Great site Jules, thank you.. I've bookmarked for a better look.. my son would love to see that too.
Haha glad you mentioned that medical tape Blue.. I pinched the one from the medical box and stashed it in my workroom a while ago, but I wasn't sure if I should use it..
Hope everyone is getting some crafting time in... I have a flu' so it might be a good excuse to sit quietly and sculpt.. ;D

the chemists medical tape is cheep as chips just a couple dollars for say a 15 mm width roll. you can get it all over the show $2 shops etc also. you can buy this stuff in this to thick 5mm upto 2 inch. the glue on it is very thin layer and does not seep. i usually thrash it all around the foil wrapping it tightly then oil it very lightly before the clay goes on. the paper floral tape comes in different verity's. its not all the same at all. some will go sticky both sides as soon as its actually stretched. some with act more like medical tape. the thin plastic stuffs no good at all. masking tapes fine but the glue can seep threw if the clays to thinly applied. ( or maybe its just with me ; ) Get well soon Donna *eat the cake* Jules that link is very very cool thanks so much Tails...........grin be good ; ) Bll hello doll have you been making anything lately? hello everyone else

its a soft almost fluffie looking ( but is not at all ) fine paper tape. great stuff. i did get a big roll of it in a plastic tape dispenser at the local $2 shop a while back think it cost $3.50 something like that. Most chemists seem to stock it also. the masking tape is more economical if you are making high quantity but the paper tape is better quality. JMO Craft out west this weekend ladies if anyone is interested. have a wonderful day despite the weather. xR

Oh Donna hope you feel better soon, flu is a great inconvenience Thank you Blue I wonder if a little liquid clay instead of the oil will also work to prep it Hope the weather clears up your craft day Blue

Hey tails the liquid clays worth a shot a. its really just to help the clay to stick otherwise it usually ends up lifting off especially if its just a thin layer that's been played with for a while.
hope youve had yourself a great day

Very interesting I would like to try it - maybe PVA could also work to prep it

I covered the masking tape on my doll with TLS I haven't added the clay yet, but I am very confident that it will give a much better bond than not using it

What a unique idea to use a face on the wand, so many nice natural elements about this piece... its certainly lovely. The craft show was wonderful, had a terrific day out, great venue, a beautiful sunny day..and fun company.. Among other things, I managed to find a few great pieces of fabric for clothing my showpiece.. aah now for choosing which goes with what.. haha.. I've decided I really must work a lot quicker on it now.. weeks have flown by very fast. Have a great day today..

Oh stop this faster nonsence you are starting to make me edgy since I can't get any further on mine I tried without the eyes - just lenses but it doesn't work for me, they float around too much it may work better for smaller sculpts I can't wait to get these eyes sorted so I can really get stuck in anyway onside of the face looks completely different from the other at the moment due to the shape of the brow if I had enough time I would've kept that one and started another cause it quite an interesting face never mind that though I need it to start resembling what I have envisioned with or without the challenging eyes The fabric sounds exciting, matching is one of the parts I enjoy very much What brand was the fabric paint medium you used?

Well it IS going fast.. haha.. you sculpt faster than me anyway so you wont take as long to be finished.. Bol with those eyes so you can get going on your piece. I had to go to Warkworth today to drop someone off so I looked around while we were there.. great little art shop and a fabulous gallery to browse around.. but most of my time was spent in the Hospice shop. I bought some more fabric pieces in grey and black and others.. now I REALLY don't know what to choose.. haha. The textile medium is 'folkart' by Plaid.. I have never used this 59ml bottle I have so I'm happy to send some to you along with instructions... happy to share.. Hows everything going with everyone else.. I wonder if Nikki has had a go with the clay yet... hmmmm.

Sounds like fun trolling the gallery art shop and hospice You are too kind but I'll keep an eye out I haven't really decided if I'm going to paint nor have I tried genesis which is what I might use in the end
Well I'm using the temporary eyes and they feel a bit big yet the lens that I tried is the same size -hope that will change when they are finished Enjoy choosing the material
Oh yes how are all the other projects going?
