Yes it felt quite brutal doing it LOL, I mean I literally slit her throat and carved it away. But she is all the better for it

Lol... yes it does sound quite brutal and gruesome, breaking necks and cracking limbs, slitting throats.. hehe..
I see your points re finishing or adjusting comp pieces after the shows.. I do feel much better about the small changes I've made, well more 'finishing' work than changes. If I hadn't done the little tasks I would have always wished it was done. Eyelashes, better shaped fingers and neater seams have made it much better.
It is nice to not HAVE to work on something for a short time... before the comp I had to work on my piece constantly, whether I felt like it or not. It was worth it but it's certainly nice to have a break. I'm still running my idea around.. I'm happy to change the idea to suit, it will actually be quicker and easier too.

I agree with you there Donna, you work so much on them leading up to the shows, that it's nice to take a break afterwards
Does anyone have anything they are working on?

Happy Birthday Gorgeous.. will go put that on your birthday page I've only been finishing off my 'Damien" sculpt, ready to photograph now and show.. sadly the pics will probably be my usual fuzzy stuff.. The Hamilton piece is being put together in my head, if that counts. By the time I touch clay it should be sorted.. How about you, are you working on anything?

Thanks Donna I actually got a macro lens for my cannon SLR camera for my birthday. It should turn up tomorrow, so hopefully I will be able to take some great close up shots soon I am, or should be, working on finishing my competition piece, my zombie queen of hearts, and still need to finish my female faun. My competition piece by the way, since there is no need to keep it all hush hush now LOL, is a steampunk harp lady. She is not facing out from the harp like usual, but instead is actually part harp part human and one arm is playing her own strings. At least she will be since she is still short one head and her human arm

Oh great present.. lucky girl.. I took photos today and they are ho-hum, and the eyes look so light and bright which looks eerie. Photography isn't really my thing so I might need to find someone else to do it. LOL Your sculpting works sound cool.. and the steampunk harp lady.. oh yes.. that will be perfect. There will be some trickery but I'm sure you'll get her perfect. Can't wait to see her finished.. Steampunk is something I must fit in soon too.. I have bits.. just need time and a project.

Thanks for the pics Fantail.. aren't they lovely. It was so good to see other polymer people entered this year. I loved the Xmas tree seller (apparently a porcelain doll artist made this one, yay) What an adorable expression he has. The lady and ladybugs was tucked in a corner so it was difficult to see, you got a nice shot so we can appreciate her up close. How lovely she is.. looks like her skirt is padded velvet and microbeads to me.. gorgeous. I'm still trying to get a pic of mine, that I kinda like enough to put up here.. It's October by the way.. haha

Yeah I thought about starting in October but the show was in September... Yes it looks like a nice touch of velvet, I have only blurry pics of the poem about the butterflies in her stomach from the nerves before getting on stage- a great idea I do love the Christmas one - he has a great face and the whole thing was beautifully finished

Sorry Fantail.. I was just being smart.. of course the pics should be in Sept.. These are so lovely.. The porcelain doll ladies make such incredible clothing and costuming. Exquisite work. That greenware Bjd was so so cool.. I wanted it too.. if it had been bisque I would definitely have bought it.

Don't say sorry, you have a point its more then a week in already Glad you pointed that out about the BJD, no use having beautiful things in our house if its not strong enough it has to be packed away and then which would be too sad to do to a beautiful doll Better go look to see what other photos I can spruce up and upload

Ooooh it's fantastic to see them all again..
aaah Anubis' little cutey elf, I love that cheeky face with the dimples.. adorable little dragon she found, love it.
The wonderful goth girl sitting on her stiletto and disc.. excellent work, love all the details. So cheeky perched up with my boy. You should put up the one where they were both sitting with him, little groupies.. haha.
And of course Fantails winning entry.. the perfect little bjd.. *sigh, just look at those hands.. she is just exquisite and her friend is such a comical little fella playing his music all intently.
Blues two entries are both so pretty, the serene girl holding the little bird, and the athletic ballerina.. aaaah Stunning work. and the added bonus of her other works on her table. wow.. thanks so much for these Fantail, it really is a treat to see them all again.

Hehe I believe Goth girl is actually sitting on a note but I didn't get a good picture I wish I got a photo that would do your entry justice Donna, he really is wonderful- I still am awed by the fact that you made the guitar out of cardboard, fantastic detail So great to see all the entries and I do enjoy trolling and looking again

Oh no, of course it would be a note *duh! I couldn't see it properly at the show because of the angle.. please don't tell her I thought it was a stiletto.. Did you and Karen make your guitars/instruments? (I wish the sweatshirt had been pulled back down on my piece.. lol)

The photos are great! Its lovely to see them close up, and get to have a good look at them Donna the facial expression you did is spot on! and great work on the hair, its not easy doing short hair. Did you make the chair as well? Fantail your piece is so awesome, such a fun creative piece. And the clothing is so well done. And then throw in the fact you made it a BJD - superb! And blues dolls are beautiful as always, it was a great idea to put them on the musical spinning box And the Goth girl is very cool too. At first I thought she was sitting on her guitar case, but then realised it was a note. There were a couple of dolls on stage that were literally "on a musical note"

I agree, your sculpts hair looks great Donna The material of the music note mad me think of a guitar speaker, I liked the use of the Cd on the base to add to the music theme Haha I don't think I will do a full BJD for a show again, as it just didn't leave enough time for any of the finishing touches including getting the clothes right and a green corset type piece which I still want to do. When I started I actually wanted to make more animals playing various instruments with her.

Thanks Jules, the long dreads at the back were actually harder to make.. No I didn't make the chair.. everything else, but not the chair. It's actually cast iron, very heavy.. I already had it in my stash, waiting for the right piece.. You should be aware that Fantail hand-stitches her clothing.. so does Karen.. wow.. and they always have intricate and detailed under-garments as well..
