texturing clay .......... this is to often overlooked. it adds great dimension and effects and a nice change to our usual smother clays.
things you can use are endless.......
but heres my favorites.... please add to the list ..........
1..............lace............... yes lace...... rolled on top and peeled off leaves wicked effects. you can trim the edge nicely with your sharpie.
2......... toothbrush........ coarse strokes . good for animals and all manner of things.
3............sponges........ good natural skin textures.
4 .......... sandpaper.............
5............fine mesh.............. good for ground

6) Seashells - I just bought a heap this morning at the market for just that 7) Bark - perfect excuse for a walk in the gardens with the kids in autumn. 8)Buttons - always looking for good textured buttons. 9)Rubber stamps - for my own collection I buy great big images and only use parts of them. 10) broken tail-light glass or the covers on flourescent lights - you know the ones - usually found in office building and when they break the texture is on the otherside.
Can remember being in Californai once with a fellow clay friend and her daughter. Daughter didn't feel well during the trip so we pulled over to the side of the road. While daughter was "yawning" at the side of the road both of us looked down and each picked up a piece of broken tailight glass and said " cool texture" at the same time. Daughter thought her mother and this silly kiwi woman had gone nuts rolling around in laughter at how we both loved our new found tool.
