am still working on it myself.... my babies i am doing now i gave all over paints with sponge...... and worked it..... its a little tricky cause you cant layer it up on polymer like you can with the reborns.......
but the sponges do give a good skin effect. i painted up my fingersnails on the dolls and made them to pink..eeeeeeeek will have to throw more paint on them in the morrow but will grab that stork .. and pick her brain...........pick pick pick

Been very busy painting (the livingroom, what a job...). The secret to creating good skin texture is to do layering if you can. With reborn dolls I bake between layers, but I can see that that would be undesirable with polymer. However you can just put it in for say 2-3 minutes at 130C to dry it enought not to mix in with the next layer.
layer 1 veining, very diluted teal lines in the appropriate areas (wrist, ankle, foot, temple, forehead, jugular). layer 2 skintone: flesh use makeup sponge and pounce until the surface looks like skin pores. layer 3-6 blushing (cheecks, nose, forehead, ears, elbows, knees, feet) layer 7 small cappilary veining on face hands, little pimples and milkspots and red scratches on face etc nails (don't go too pink as it is only slightly redder than the fingers)and nail tips (don't use white but do flesh with some grey) layer 8 overal pounce over with very thin flesh to even it all out again. I do a few more layers in between of washes of blue and purple Put clear satin on lips and nails, and gloss in between eyelids, nostrils and around mouth. Hope that helps. Keep the paint very diluted, as if you have just cleaned your brush in well used dirtly diluent. 8 minutes for the last bake to get it all sorted properly would do the trick.

hey storky....... now i have been practicing making skin , especially not so pink etc.... but my ? is this.
seamins i have to do it all in one bake.... i try and do one layer and leave it for a tad before the next goes on. but often with the sponge it just goes cloggy on the clay. maybe paint still to thick?
happens on face also when pinking up the cheeks etc. hmm... or maybe im trying to put to much on to thin??? maybe one thicker layer???
any advice?

Hey Blue, only just saw this. I would probably put the whole lot in the oven for a few minutes just to get it starting to bake on (rather than the full 12 minutes) and then add the next layer. Water paint down to almost clear with hint of colour, dry brush on paper towel then apply, this keeps the surface reasonably dry.
