hadn't heard of this for clay before, but apparently whipping your piece out of the hot oven and plunging it into ice-cold water makes it stronger and shrinks up any cracks that may have appeared. Sounds too good to be true!

Sounds like it can cause cracks too think about it -the outside will shrinks faster then the inside I though thats why a lot of people let things cool down in the oven but who knows, it might work for thin things

For the love of chocolate please PLEASE do NOT do this with prosculpt or living doll ................ MUST leave in oven till cooled or it will CAUSE more cracking.... and if you must try it please use an oven mit.
does works well with dukit and fimo tho...
for the most part. Moonies...= overbaked or air in clay or....your sculpting technique eg mooching rather than scraping away and adding. softer translucent clays eg SS much more prone to moonies.
ok thats my 5 cents worth...
((( sneaks away with Bll's clay cleaning vodka)))

ok ... was a tip in Sue Heaser's latest(?) Encyclopaedia of Polymer Clay Techniques. More modelling than sculpting?

I'm sure I'll give it a go at some stage - on something small!
