Good morning all! :-)
I managed to score myself a pasta machine yesterday, yipppppeeeee!!!
Had a marvelous time playing last night with some waste clay. But I have a couple of questions.
How do I clean it?
And, I read somewhere to feed the clay through with greaseproof paper on either side to keep it clean, but when I tried that the rollers wouldn't 'grab'.
Any tips at all on using one would be great!
Vix :-)

WATCH OUT!!! lol ... I found some instructions on the net for cleaning but it wasn't for my model - couldn't find those. I then proceeded to carefully and systematically take it apart but ... SPROINGNGNGNG!!!!! PARTS EVERYWHERE! it was almost impossible to put back together. Handy tip: don't bother putting the cover plates back on, makes it easier to clean in future. I think I had trouble trying the greaseproof idea 2.

LMAO
I'm too scared to take it apart.... i KNOW i'd never get it back together! :-)
I looked on the net, and like you, found instructions for another model, not mine. It said not to use water at all. Do you just wipe with a dry cloth, or do you wash it?

yeah I just wiped it down.. It was NASTY when I bought it, dried pasta and dead maggots and bugs inside the cavities - eeewwww! I think isopropyl alcohol would be okay to use. Usually only chemists have it but hubby found a spray version at Bunnings.

*gag*
ewwwwwww!
This one just has a few bits of clay... no maggots, thank god! :-)
We have ispropyl at work, it's great for cleaning stuff to do with computers.
I have a clay pusher thing as well, which seems to work great, but my god it's hard to push the little plunger down!

i KNOW!! so gross! at least i did find them and get rid of them. vix, I bought a clay gun 2, just a cheapo but its gr8 for heaps of things. Lol, I tried to push some old fimo classic thru, that just wasn't gonna happen! The sculpey was good to push through I thought I would have trouble with du-kit being stiffer but it wasn't too bad.

LOL
From what I've read and heard, sapphyre, once you have one you wonder how you ever got on without it! :-)
I guess it really depends on how much you do. I'm already finding it marvelous, but I roll a ball of clay really thin to make the body of my birds, and wrap it around tinfoil, so it saves me slaving with the old rolling pin, and it makes it nice and even too. Apparently it's brilliant for blending colours, but I haven't tried that yet.
Bll... I'll keep you informed, my partner is a bit of a whiz at 'adapting' things, and he reckons he can make it so my poor weak little hands will have no trouble. Stay tuned..... ! :-)

He's out in the garage putting the final touches, it's soooooo simple, and will fit the standard clay pusher thing. Will post photos soon!!

True story, honest!!
He's adapted a caulking gun... welded an end on it the same size as the barrell of the clay pusher, adapted the pushing bit of the caulking gun to hold the plunger of the clay pusher straight, and Bob's your uncle! He's also cut off the end of the caulking gun and welded it back together, to shorten it.
Honest, it's amazing. You guys absolutely have to have this, if you use a clay pusher!

I'm off to snuggle up with my clever b/f and watch a movie... you guys have a good night!

He's going to make me a better version tomorrow, the caulking gun he's used is old, and has play in the handle. So he's going to get a new mechanism and improve it.
If you like, I'll let you know what it costs for materials, and he'll make you one too.

Yep... Pahiatua.... b/f has friends that live there. He said it's a small town, and you'd likely know them. But I guess not! :-)

You don't need to send your clay gun.... I'm assuming it's probably the same as mine?
Send me a picture, and I'll compare.
