I'm a little confused ... are you talking about mixing across different brands or different colours of the same brand? It never really occurred to me that it could be a problem, I'm always mixing colours. I've used Sculpey, Fimo and Du-kit so there's a good chance I've mixed between those. Never noticed a problem but then any problems I've had I've put down to my famous nasty Fimo.

mixing different clay brands bll.
ive mixed some of that du - kit and fimo together, but it took a lot to really blend it correctly..... it baked ok though but that was coloured not flesh ....came out fine with no cracking or moonies etc. failed to mix sculpty translucent and fimo together to make porcelain flesh...failed and so moonied it was disgusting.
a lot of people make their own secret mix of clays for flesh etc..... but theres so many variables... personal preference etc... oven temps blah blah...
tried du kit flesh and fimo took ages to blend and wassent able to blend the seams well. sigh.....
one of these days ill come across a bunch of proper info on it... theres got to be a good recipie around the net somewhere...

Mad scientist experiments with little blocks of mixes.........hm.....hmmmm
interesting................
did read that cernet and du kit left in the fridge overnight before baking stops a lot of moonies............ now thats interesting.......... maybe that has something to do with moisture?
fimo left overnight can have a tendency to crack more post baking... hmmmmmmmmmm....
interesting dear whatson interesting.........

ok now.................
70% fimo flesh ( which is nice and transparent and pink) and 30% transparent clay.....
mixed really well. it takes ages and ages and ages and agessssssssssssss to mix properly even with the pasta machine.......... makes a really nice slightly more realistic flesh looking clay.......... dont know how it bakes yet........ but nice baby skin looking............hmmmmmmmmm........hmmmmmm.......... ok i got fluff on it but hmmmmmmmm still looking good...................its really very soft like du kit now. blends ok......

That monarch is amazing. I have 5 chrysalises hanging in my kitchen at present, above the bench, and one day soon there will be monarchs all through the house, hehehe. After the show I will ahve to try that clay one I think, and the beads, and the baby, and the fairy, and and and...sigh Will check diligently Blue ;-), hurray. I have told Meg about the site, we'll pull her in at showtime!
