More picies ;D thank you for posting your sprites Donna See they are not bad at all. I think it’s the eyes that make them look alien I had the same effect with an elf and a few others when I used similar dark pearl and plain black beads, dress them give them hair and paint watch them transform are they sculpted in one piece

Ahaha..I had a change of heart about posting the pics and came back to delete them, but too late..you've seen them!!! I thought it probably not a good time when anubis has put up her cuties. I just felt I was 'all chat and no show'..and I know how much I enjoy seeing everyone elses pic's. Yes they are a one piece sculpt, big mistake too, I won't do that again. It's made things hard now. I did make some eyes but they didnt suit so I went with the beads. I kinda wanted them to look 'moth/cicada/mantis morphed, I can't really explain, anyway they are going to fit into cocoons with cicada-type wings, with spots painted on their bodies Hopefully they'll come together okay. They are only practice at this stage anyway..I don't like being a newbie haha

You leave them right there young lady.... I like them they are cute and tails is right give them some hair and clothes and watch them change.
I have thought about making clay versions of the cloth dolls.

Well there you go with cocoons, wings, hair and spots they will come together, can't wait to see I know that sculpting in one piece does make it harder, you end up squishing detail you just sculpted...

;D Morning.. Well the birthday thing went well, got it all sorted even tho' I spent some time chatting here..I'm going to do some work on the girls today, it's raining anyway so I can't paint outside hehe. The last thing I did was the feet but I've had another look and they are all wrong, too big and clumsy so I'll redo them and make the hands (the hard bits in my opinion, feet and hands) fix the legs up some more and get them finished. My nephews really liked how much they glowed in the dark....
Anubis it's great to hear you're thinking of making the fairies in clay as well..they would look really good, they are such a good design.

Hi I don't think this sort of day is good for much at all..very uninspiring.. I'm sorry to hear youre having some trouble, hopefully those gorgeous sunny days we just had, are around the corner then you can get your painting done, and everything else will fall into place too. I didn't do much at all in the end, blamed the dreary day, I really am a bit bored at the stage I'm at, instead I searched around the net looking at all the stunning creations of others. "Research" I call it, haha. Thank you for the links, I had completely forgotten about Patricia Rose, I had looked at her site when I first started. I'll print those out before Jesse gets home from school and monopolizes my laptop. That will be the help I need, hopefully I'll get somewhere with them this afternoon. Thanks again ;D I wish I could help with your challenges

Sometimes you need sometime away from your project and do research in order to get back into it You do help just by sympathising Anubis I'd love to see some of your fairies in clay

I just made some clay stuff............ ya me. Nothing to exciting just little divers looking out from a shell. They are baking at the moment will put some pics up tomorrow. More just playing with paint and trying to get to grips with genesis. On the up side they dont look like drag queens like my first attempt with that paint. ;D Also I now know what sort of fairy the lady wants and she was so surprised that I make them myself. She thought I brought the doll and just made the outfit.

;D 'Morning everyone.. Yay for you anubis, can't wait for the piccies either, they sound great. Well I can understand your customer thinking that about your fairies I guess, they are very high standard. She'll be delighted to have her very own Ooak, personalised for her ;D. You'll do well with those fairies. Well I hope you aren't too busy today fantail, coz it's not raining (so far, anyway!!) you can get your painting done now.. Genesis sounds tricky, I don't think I'll get that now.. I have finished the body, legs and feet on one sprite, just have to fiddle a bit more with the other one, and make the hands..then they are ready for baking..yahoo.. thanks to you fantail, you got me moving on with them

Hellooo ;D Well the girls are in the oven for their final bake..I have to say they are only finished because I am sick of them..LOL. I would like to change lots of things..but I can't, so big learning experience with them and they'll look fine disguised with finishing touches..LOL Boy, the hands were super-hard they were fine until I fitted them then it all went pear-shaped, I think I'll need a lot of practice with hands..and sculpting small figures too.

Hands aren't easy I'm still not happy with the ones I'm working on either Choose the size you are comfortable sculpting in, glad you got them finished It's still raining on and off... Anubis sculpted some great hands on those divers

Yep, anubis did a great job on her divers hands.. They make me smile, those little guys. Been sanding the sprites tonight, I'm scared I'll break something off them, like the hands..coz I'm such a klutz, I already have 3 ears to glue back on A strange thing happened with another bake I did tonight. I made a butterfly for a friend but I didn't like it at all, (too cheesy, like a child made it LOL) so I made another, and the first one baked fine but the second one came out BLACK, same temp, same bake time. It is still flexible, just black. Odd!!! Luckily my son thought it looked cool, so he can have it.

No idea why that would happen perhaps a temperature spike. ugh I'm so tired of things burning it's so discouraging Glad your son liked it gives a happy ending to a toasted butterfly Ugh the sun keeps disappearing and I'm completely over the super sculpey mix the moonies just keep coming. I'm not using it unless the object will be completely covered with paint

Yeah, a bit strange..I wouldn't want to burn anything else, luckily it wasn't the sprites after all the work. I don't know how helpful this is, but I read (glass attic I think) if you leave your sculpt in the oven to cool down, about 2 hrs, you won't get the moonies... I followed that advice with the troll.. I got moonies on the first bake - but I removed him from the oven immediately. I didn't get anymore when I left him in the oven to cool, on subsequent bakes. I got them with the first butterfly (translucent clay) which I had taken out of the oven straight after baking. I have to visit my friend now, minus black butterfly

I've tried that and my sculpts darkened horribly because they were already baked once or twice and when I switch the oven off they were still fine.
Awe I'm sure she will understand

Hi Lufflies hope all is well with you and yours.
life's been busy here in the west this year. urg dash it all it gets in the way of clay time ; )
homeschooling is done and dusted now tho so my days are free sorta
have had a few other extended projects in the studio which i have failed to produce so far but urg it all takes good time so much learning.
commercial sculpting does not always end up as it seams. RAR ! but its worth the experience thats for sure.
will have a chance to thrash out a few more OOAKs and have some fun now ; )
Im so glad your all still sticking your fingers into clay and enjoying yourselves
have a wonderful week ahead ladies
xR
