Yes I would think the iron wasnt hot enough. Obviously you don't want the iron to touch the film, but through a handy towel or piece of cloth you want the iron pretty hot. It should get pretty hard and solid when completely bonded Has anyone ever thought of using that gelarti system to make wings? www.fishpond.co.nz/Toys/Gelarti-Designer-Studio-Unbranded/9999357355514Every time I see an ad for it I wonder if it will work. My daughter has these kits. They are called "Geleez" in NZ so they must be parallel imported. You would need some kind of leading to do your own designs because the paints are for flooding. The kits come with transparent stickers with designs embossed on them.

Glueing the wires onto one sheet and ironing the second sheet of fantasy film to the other side is working well without the need to glue the other side I just need to get the knack of using the right pressure and heat setting Thanks for the tip Jules

I'm happy to hear you're having luck with it now Fantail. I got a headcold from my Mr.. but I'm not too bad, it was a good excuse to sit quietly for a day and get on with the base for my sculpt.. 3/4 finished now, but still stalling on those hands for the sculpts.. I think I dislike doing hands the most of all, mainly because I find them the most difficult. Next in line would be the eye surrounds.. I can't wait until I can sculpt a little quicker and more precise.. ;D Hope all is well with everyone.

This looks like a great tute for Hands I found the other day I will post it again in the right place later www.renatajansen.co.uk/gallery/tutorials/hand_tutorial.aspI won't say it I'm having luck just getting better then it was before Jules' tip, its tricky stuff when you have several wires to work with- even while using tape I tried another and the one sides' glue was very gloopy will try and clean it up abit before doing the other sheet Glad to hear you are getting along with your sculpting Donna Hope you feel better soon though

I must be crazy, but I love hands LOL even on my tiny 6 and 7" dolls I definitely prefer using an armature, it forces me to create a finer more detailed hand I did a tut on it if you haven't seen it yet www.dollworld.co.nz/hand-armature/

Glad you got started, I got to get cracking the months are dropping away Hope you'll have enough stock for both shows I like doing hands feet and faces but yeah it can be a love hate relationship when you can't get it to work or they break after you baked it
I do wish to try the technique in your tute

The months sure are, and I think the second half of the year is going to zoom by! Stock wise it should be fine, with three weeks between the two Sept ones I can restock right after the Hamilton fair and fill up for the Auckland one

Well August/September will definitely be busy for you Jules... glad you started your comp piece now.
Thanks for the hands tuts you two.. I have one hand that I'm okay about, just have to get started on these other 3.. just fiddly huh, with the armature and all.. I did coat the wires with liquid sculpey, and tinted it with flesh coloured paint which worked well for any wire that peeked through.
I'm definitely improving with each sculpt I think.. the second one is better than the first one for these two..
Base is coming along okay, but I still have a way to go with everything.
*Edited coz it made no sense.. stupid flu' brain.. hehe

Hey everyone The fair went okay thanks. Like last year my sister kicked I disagree. Her charms always sell well at the Senz fairs Whereas I tend to do better at the craft and sewing fairs. There just didn't seem to be any real doll people there. And I was very bad and forgot to restock a lot of stuff, so felt my range wasn't all it should have been But have been very busy working on extending my range. And have lots and lots of new exciting things to be added to the shop over the next few weeks. And meanwhile my comp piece is still just a half done base I swear I always leave these things till the last minute until a deadline forces me to get focused on it ~sigh~

Glad your sister at least did really well, knowing what stock to have for each fair must be tricky
I look forward to seeing the new range Hope you get time to get onto your comp piece soon
I over baked some biddy bears a while ago and even after roughening the surface for tummy and mussel paint, I can still scratch the gauche paint off really easily; might bite the bullet and try to rebake one with genesis.

Oops I meant muzzle - sorry I still have a bit of a headache as I got stronger glasses yesterday Jo Sonia - I even tried mixing in a bit of the matte sealer to see if that works after the first attempt failed It's Dukit that is hard to paint on, the clay wasn't burnt just very shiny

Could be that the one bear's tummy wasn't rough enough cause on the other bear's feet -the paint doesn't just scratch off Will sand it again and see- maybe I missed a few spots and the one's tummy

I think if the Dukit has ended up shiny it means your temperature was a bit high Everynow and then when I was making the little guys for my mini kits I found they sometimes came out shiny And I think its due to the temperature, but only a guess

I find Dukit bakes shiny too.. particularly the black. What about removing the acrylic paint with acetone which should etch the surface slightly too.
