Finished my base, finished sculpting one of the figures now.. (secretly not that happy with the hands but I'll get better with practice I'm sure) Still have to make the hands for the other figure, then that one is finished too. I still have a lot going on at home and family here from Oz in a couple of weeks, so I won't get too complacent at this stage.. still have accessories to make, and clothing won't be easy for these ones.

Its sounds like you are well into it Donna But accessories can definitely take for ever if there is lots of detail to do I am so happy I have no clothes in this piece - yay

Does anyone know of a good eyelash tutorial? I have done with them feathers in the past because I haven't been able to get this adding the eyelashes one at a time trick. Not sure if I am using the right materials and glues, so would love to see a tutorial if anyone knows of one

Thanks Fantail for the links. The OOAKdollart one is the same process I currently use And have seen the one from Morezmore before, but they are more realistic. I want the really over the top fake ones like what Patrizia patriziacozzo.blogspot.co.nz/ and Nicole West do.

Two of the most amazingly talented doll artists.. Nicole West puts her lashes on individually, not sure about Patrizia..
What about purchasing fake eyelashes and trimming them ( cut on an angle) They have some quite outrageous ones at $2-type shops.
And in case you thought I was going unusually drama-free on my piece.. I repeated a mistake I'd previously made (so don't feel sorry for me).. and antiqued/tinted my figure while still slightly warm (coz I'm impatient, grrr) and late at night (yep) and woke up to see what looked like a very bad fake tan. Iso nor acetone did much at all.. so I've spent a good part of the day.. sanding, sanding, scraping, acetoning, sanding.. in tiny crevices and lines, fingers ears... eeeeeeek. A lot better now, but I didn't have time for this..

Oh no that is such a shame about fake tan But looking for the silver lining I am sure all that sanding as given you a smoother finish

I like silver linings too.. just got to brush away those gloomy clouds that often block the view.. Looking forward to viewing the entries on Doll magazine starting tomorrow.. 'Discover a dollmaker cover contest.' 32 semi-finalists chosen out of over 200 contributors.. open voting will be done one pair at a time. Exciting stuff, they'll be some wonderful dolls to view. www.facebook.com/DOLLSmagazine

They certainly are.. I did vote but I found it very difficult to choose between the two. Imagine what a difficult task it would have been, choosing 32 finalists from 200 - with that caliber of talent.
