Hey all.. ;D Well looks like we completely missed February out. The sad part about sculpting for the comps is we can't have the wips to show each other.. and it seems I'm only getting through a comp piece per year. Well 2 for this year, hopefully. Not a lot of progress on my Hamilton show piece, I'm glad I started early. It is coming along how I envisage, so far. Have only worked the base/stand though, no figure/s yet. Might be my first female this time. (I don't count those dodgey-box dwellers btw ) I've just used Dukit for something, I like that its flexible, the colour is nice, but it doesn't paint well and looks a bit 'plastic'. Durable I would say. Anyway thats my rambling.. hope all is well with everyone..

Heloooo Don't know if there are any rules about not showing our work, will ask Blue, cause you can enter your work from other shows that didn't receive a ribbon which means people have seen it , though you can't use pieces that you made in their classes I think it just takes the surprise factor out of it
I might post the armature if I get the heads up as I finally started a little for the fairy one good luck making a girl this time - I know you can do it
Yeah Dukit doesn't seem to like paint even if you wash the surface with dish washing liquid sanding helps a little but if its coloured clay you end up with the white sanding marks I mixed a bit of that super light sculpey(can't remember the name into it but that makes it harder to sculpt with and picks up fingerprints more easily

Hey fantail Great to hear you've made a start on your piece now.. ;D
I'm sure there are no rules about showing before events, it would just spoil seeing all the pieces at the show.. that's the exciting part I look forward to.
The Dukit is for leaves, so its quite fine for that, nice and flexi.. I'd just be selective on what I use it for due to the plastic look. It would be great for beads and jewellery I think.

Hey everyone Great to see everyone is working on their comp pieces. Haven't started mine - no surprise there! But I am set to start it next week. Along with 3 other pieces I want done for the Armageddon fair
I have two weekends in a row, Hamilton Doll fair on the 18th weekend, and then the Armageddon on the 25th
Because of the double up, and my love of the Armageddon, the items I am making have a more darker side, so not sure how well they will be received at the Hamilton Doll fair, but might be fun to see the reaction of the older crowd LOL
Once I get some pieces done I will make sure to post some pics

Had to have mine finished or I wouldn't be able to enter it but it was a bit rushed, I had to just let things go that I wasn't happy with. Lots of things I'd like to fix when I get it back but I guess it will always happen no matter how much time I have. Better start planning the next one hehe Hope you finished your entry and all the prep work for the show. Should we start a May thread after the show and post some pics of our entries

Yes time has no meaning for me right now - march, april, may...its all one big blur LOL I dont think there would ever be a time that I finished a piece and said great she is perfect, I wouldnt change a thing. I think its just the artist in us that is always wanting to do better. But thats all good - it keeps us improving our skills As of this moment my piece is done Yay She has a lot of paintwork, so its something I could just keep going and going with, but I am pulling the plug and calling her done And with two days to spare - who says I leave everything till the last minute Like last year I will take some pictures on the dolls at the show, so if anyone doesn't want me to post there images please say so. My gosh it is so hard to believe that its so close. And I have a million things to get done so I better go get too it

Hey guys Well I finally got finished too, and yes there were things that went wrong and many things I would like to have done better with more time. Once again I got a bit OTT with the base and extra's and left little time for the doll.. *rolls eyes. But I guess it will always be a last minute panic and bits we wish went better. I had a lot of firsts with this one, first female figure, long locks, angelina film etc, all of which went badly.. hehehe.. but it was good to experiment. All the best for the show Jules, keep us up-to-date if you get a chance. Lots of DOM entries for Hamilton this year Catching up to May would be a good idea hahaha.
