Oh yes I saw that sculpt, well done too, looks just like the clown in 'It'.. that movie would put you off clowns forever... .. yuck like Hannibal Lector face slicing... I had my face in plastic wrap (you know what I mean) actually I still do.. and Blue advised me against it, must change that... Well my face is still flat, despite my efforts.. hmmm don't know what to do now.. a. Re-start it....... arghhhhhhh ( I know you would Fantail, and I probably should...) b. Hope people only look at it front on.. c. Try to convince everyone that this figure has unusual bone structure.. d. Accept the title of "flat face sculptor" until I get it right next time.. I can't change it coz the fault is with the baked base... I didn't notice how much 'eye' you see from the side ? Why do I notice these things AFTER the fact... Not trying to be a drama queen or anything

Night light is definitely not good for fine details or repairs.. nor are days like these... My drama is over... went with b c & d... LOL.. and I carried on with it last night.. came to the conclusion that if I started another - whats the bet there would've been some issue with it also... ;D Hope spotty boy is much better today, hope you're enjoying the break Bll. All the best with dent removing Blue.. Have a great and productive day everyone... ;D

so hard in night lights.... you just cant see jack. looks fine one way...see dent another or was that just grubby mark? fixated for two hours over dents and fills and im talking half ml here stupid really cause its nothing a light sand wont fix up tidy anyhow I think we need a self help checklist for *fixation* put it down and leave it for a bit is all i can do half the time and start something else inbetween........ hence now i am Queen of unfinished projects GROAN but clay is in oven having its final bake. fingers crossed and then a light sand again and paint........ i will just take it at that. the weathers crapped out over here again. good day for clay but not with this dark sky......... maybe its a sign i should do the housework have a wonderful day everyone hope you find some good clay time

You could probably use Baking paper instead I just had some wax paper and don't use it for anything Its just to keep the zip-lock bag from sticking to the clay and doing the same thing the plastic wrap was doing -even though the bag did it to a lesser degree
I would choose e) leave the head for a while till you feel up to it again I tend not to bake till I'm happy with things Is it because of the teeth that you need to make another?
Hope all the dents are gone so you don't have to sand blue

ah yer dollys all done will just use some wet and dry on a couple ruff spots that are hard to reach sorta places... to cold today to be bothered tho had big tidy up also...... gees this place goes to the dogs when im busy with dolls sometimes lmao hope you had a great day tails hope it was not to cold over your way. great idea re bag and paper etc. its a bit easier in the cold weather the clay does not melt so bad but still those little marks like a paua shell pattern sorta strange disease type happens lolol I also use a little towel covered in plastic wrap taunt to sit clay on it helps stop flat bottoms and things but still can get creases etc i will pull out some paper and give that a whirl to GRIN p.s I love the eraser tool-- it totally rocks as do YOU Hope your afternoon went swell Donna. Hi to all others...

Hey guys... you're just zooming on with that dolly Blue.. Well done you, it will soon be done and dusted... Glad you had a nice warm day today Fantail... I like the eraser tool too, great for pushing the eyes in.. I bought more rubber-tipped tools.. I so love using them, thank you so much for introducing me to them Fantail, I find them so effective. I made a baked head base coz without it I end up with an elongated ET head.. I made it flat at the front to build the face off... The mistake I made TWICE was to set the eyes and teeth into it at that stage.. should've built it up first. Realised the problem a bit far into it and now the face is 80% done... in short I really really don't like redoing unless I really really have to... I'm not a fast sculptor and time isn't on my side.... I might not be a good sculptor if I don't change that trait.. best I get good.. fast. I've been using the lidded plastic containers you get croissants in from the supermarket.. lined with a base of polyfiber and covered in plastic wrap.. now changed to waxed paper... ;D

Mmmh the cake sounds good Bll Not wise for my size Donna, just worried you are putting to much pressure and that is why you aren't taking your time to enjoy this
Blue would you like a tiny sample to try before you get the large amount I would be happy to send you some Its 62.70 for one pound but I can't remember for the Kg Yip its Topmark and you will have to ring or email to order as I'm not sure if they have white in stock but they are very fast Be sure to ask for the Super white Not sure if they have the super white in the 1Kg though
I don't know if its superior to magic sculpt- I have heard that they say MG gets stronger when baked but since its not available here and I'm not sure if you can get it in white, I'm quite happy with Aves Apoxy sculpt. Though feels like epoxy when you sculpt with it - a different feel compared to clay and the price means I'll use it for structure/strength rather then sculpt figures
the month "whatsup" page sounds good
Don't think I can make it this weekend either Jules I hope that lots of those in Manukau will enjoy it and that you will have a fantastic weekend with lots of customers
Brrrr its cold now

Hey all...
Oh for a minute there I thought you meant I could only chat once a month... imagine it...!! Monthly pages would be good...
I am enjoying my sculpting, but first Show... first real face and figure.. I probably am feeling like it has to be as good as I can do, a bit concerned about a public showing.. Maybe I just voice my concerns too loudly.. hehe... sometimes I'm only being dramatic and making my inexperience amusing...
Anyway I am happy with the face now, I've adjusted it best I can. Damien said it was much better too.. so alls good
I feel its almost complete... I'm attaching the neck to it now and will add a few details. Then attach to the finished torso. I guess I'm coming along quite well really
Thanks for the offer Blue, but only if you aren't going to use them... could we swap?
Oooh Weekends here... enjoy!!!

Hi everyone.. hope you're all enjoying a wonderful weekend. Fantail those glass balls sound very interesting... I would have owned them if I'd seen them.. I'm sure I could have found a good use for them.. Any clay time this weekend..? I'm finishing off J's room while he's away.. one room down at least. I've started fiddling around with that face more... at the risk of wreckage its now time to move on me thinks... The eyes surrounds are needing refining.. but I'll come back to that after. Well the sun is shining.. hope it stays that way for awhile.. enjoy your day.. ;D Beautiful mime sculpt www.roxannamaria.com/

I woulda owned them glass balls to ........ must have balls.
speaking of balls. Ive just finished painting some......tee hee hee
Had a big tidy up today lord only knows why . even went to the supermarket again and the indian supermarket for some herbs and spices.... some nice freshly dryed lemon grass for tea some HOT chilli and some indian rice flower treats......... interesting stuffs there just love the smells of the spice isle oh scrumptious. did find some aniseed flavored mini candy size of rice........yum
but some clay time this afternoon i finks... had this piece that i just had not gelled with at all. proved quite difficult to like and work out but last night after an oily brush it sort of came to life and im keener on her. strange how it works out a. I think an armature failure and pose change after clay was on so many things needed redoing and fixing up sorta made it a big job...wrecked a foot i so lovingly got right for once. squished it accidentally grabbing it.what was i thinking URG. anyhowz i hope to have it finished up today. or pretty close to it for sure..........
jules i hope your weekend went magically in all ways : )
hope youall find some clay time today and keep warm

OMG BLINKS............. blue balls!. DONNAAAAAA WE NEEDS DO A ROAD TRIP TO HOWICK ASAP! and yer i will bring YOU into this ! you know you like balls to am asking self if i really needed to spend the last hour cleaning the grout in the kitchen wall tiles......... shesh who really cares about the grout inbetween tiles unless its in the bathroom .......i need help! Have not cast any more bjd parts as i still need to fix the moulds they failed first try. so close but yet so freakin far...........its an issue of the casings and moulds poured to thinley i need to RTV Block them and then they will fit snug as a bug and hold fast and NOT leak any resin onto me or the floor or the benches or everything within a meter radius. groan. but i just have to work the clay stuff for the table then i can get back to the moulds first. or ill have a very empty table at the show... shock and horror! Am working as fast as my poor old brain will allow but not compromising quality V quantity at all either. so hard. there still is plenty of time tho which is a good thing but once the clays done the pressure will be off and i will get back to those moulds. its just so so very hard. the parts i did pour so far are all failures. isnt even a full body but... the resin is very cool stuff its quite tuff i dropped parts on the concrete floor a few times and no breaks at all. just a few little scuffs so at least the product is good and true. shall bash back off to some clay before next round of visiters..... have yourself a wonderful afternoon tails xR
