The problem I’ve found with Fimo gell eyes is not only do you have to make lots to get one pair without a bubbles but raw polymer clay seems to make it go clowdy. Iv'e tried oil but it doesn't stay clear. Now I wish I could find Lisa Pavelka's Magic Gloss in New Zealand to make eyeballs like this, www.ooakdollart.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&p=64454 scroll down about half way. Droooooool It’s that resin that set with UV light-you can use sunlight and then it can be baked afterwards

fantail those eyes look fantastic. My eldest son is a sculpter/fabricator by trade, he'll be over sometime this weekend so I'll ask him if he knows of a UV product like this in NZ. Will let you know.

Hi fantail, my son hadn't heard of the UV resin, they get supplies from Topmark mostly, so I had a look on their site, but nothing showed. Did some more detective work for you, and found what seems to be the same product, made by Judikins called Gel du Soleil.
I didn't have that much luck with that in NZ either, it came up at Amazon and Overstock.com in $nz but still not NZ supply.
Beadaholic online stocks other Judikins products, trading under briarferris on T.Me, but didnt show the Gel du Soleil, only DG3 Art Gel which said it could be used on polymer clay (didnt mention if it could be baked tho') (edited to add) Maybe they would order it in if asked.
I'll keep looking..... ;D

Wow you were busy.Thank you so much. Yes Topmark doesn't supply it On Friday I sent an email to Zigag asking if they would stock it and will look up the DG3 Art Gell tomorow to look into its properties Maybe together we will find something to make beautiful clear eyes on demand ;D

Well I would still love that Magic-Glos cause of the bubbles in liquid fimo ,cause you can bake it and that it doesn't have fumes but to tide me over till we find the magic ingredient I did some more research. To stop the liquid fimo going cloudy when you rebake it a lady suggested on her website, users.telenet.be/fantasie-art/eyes.htm to use the fimo varnish (after you made the lens clear with a heat gun) Not sure if this is the waterbased since the water base is only to be baked it at 100C (from what I've read) I don’t know if sculpey gloss (glaze glossy) is compatible with fimo but according to their tutorials and product info their gloss can be baked ww.sculpey.com/projects/swirly-frameszigzag.co.nz/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=polymer&Product_Code=ST1767&Category_Code=A2GNow I wish I had money lying around to test it all And I hope I can make my already rebaked eyeballs go clear again without ruing the sculpt

*sigh* sometimes living in NZ sux - "the tyranny of distance" - Split Enz I don't know what I'd even use Magic Gloss for, but it looks like real fun to play with.

Hi fantail, sorry my last message was misleading, I got off track (too many late nights haha) It was the Gel Du Soleil I was supposed to be letting you know about. It had the same properties as the MagicGlos, including uv curing and doming ability. I thought it might have been easier to get in NZ as there are distributors for other Judikins products here that might have got it in. I was really hoping to find it for you, everyone has been so helpful to me, I was hoping to be helpful back I did email beadaholic to ask if they had it, but they haven't replied yet.

Thank you Donna, you are helpful. I missread, I guess the biggest question is -Is it safe to bake? - if it is and we can get it Woohooo! Ok I must stay calm and do more research and thank you so much. You have made this site alot more active then its been in a while, that in itself is great

Thanks fantail, that was such a nice thing to say, I hope everyone continues with all the posting, it's wonderful having others to chat to, I wouldn't even have started sculpting yet if it wasn't for you lot - and I'm absolutely LOVING it...I'll be around here for a long time, even if I have to talk to myself Anyway...sorry to say it didnt work out with the Judikins, beadaholic would have to import it, also I couldn't find anything to say it could be baked. If you were really interested in getting magic glos-it would only cost nz$13.45 (us$9.50) to get direct from Lisa Pavelka, I think even with postage it would still be cheaper buying direct, than buying from a company with mark-up added. Just a thought.

;D Thats great fantail...don't want to be negative here, but didn't Blue use it and say it went cloudy?
Hang out for a while if you can because I was reading that Envirotex Lite can be baked. It's a 2 part resin, I used it on the troll eyes and raindrops if you remember. I wasn't sure if it could be baked but recently read it could. Where I read it is another thing...will have to re-track and try to find it again. I'm really busy right now with builders and workman around...I'll do my best to get time to trial it for you..baking it 2-3 times to see if it goes cloudy.

Not cloudy, I found the fimo goes cloudy again and it can bubble etc. but Blue did mention that on the second bake they went yellow you don't need to bake it, and if you have to bake once then its still safe there are some other things I'd like to try it out on wings charms etc but I would like to see your trial when you get time

Oh okay. I'm happy you've a chance to get it now, I really hope you like it and it works for you I will definitely do a trial on the resin I have - I'll use the doming technique to see how it goes with that. It will be useful to us all to find the best products for our needs. ;D I saw a great example on the net, of a trial on clarity in liquid polymer clay using 3 examples. I found it very informative, and it saved me finding out the hard way too haha. I'll put it up if I find it again... meanwhile.. Not sure if this tute in on here already or not...thought I'd add it here anyway. www.polymerclayexpress.com/apr2007.html

Thank you Donna, does the resin you use have a strong smell? I know cornstarch stops clay sticking but never saw anyone bake things in it I guess it will stop it from deforming and adhering to any surfaces.
