Hehe at "eyes peeled"....
okay 2nd bake outa oven now..note: ;D HAPPY FACE. lol. No clouding, no bubbles, not even in the thicker 'run-off', maybe a VERY slight yellowing to the white, but I would suspect the acrylic paint I used to be responsible for that, and I'm talking barely noticeable. This is looking promising people ;D...I'll do one more bake this afternoon, that will make it 3 bakes for 30mins each at 130c. I'll be baaack....

eye eye captain Donna...................
your doing really well with it tho. if it works at two bakes for fairy sizes your away laffin
i personally get to a third bake and end up seriously killin them.
well i did the final prototype bake and all is well. so just a gentle wet and dry on a few small spots and im ready. wig and shoes are in the post......... so i best get cracking and dust off the sewer. the poor thing screams when it sees me comin i swear.
one small limb set for a ten inch then i can start my asian baby..........ohhhh yerrrrrrrrrrrr baby my fingers are soooooooooooooooooooooo sososososos so itching to start it.
sorted out the plat silicone...........good GOD that stuffs expensive and silicone paint.......which will need brain breaking experimentation with the airbrush.... oh dear lord what have i started !!!!!!!!!!!
but as much as it drives me share insane i do loves it so..........
p.s moonies in dark clay look WORSE than in light clay...........omg

All the best Blue, I love/loathe that this new craft stretches my mind LOL..but "no thanks" to things like silicone and moulds etc not yet anyway, and by then you'll have it sussed..haha. I'll be trialling the GHS clay match paint soon on moonies, so will be able to report on that All the best for the dragon pattern fantail, you might be able to market it when you've got it sorted.. Well another happy face from me.. ;D 3rd bake was a success, OOh yeah. absolutely NO clouding, NO bubbles, very minimal yellowing and only on the run-off which was equal to prob 4 - 5 coats, which would be way unnecessary, 1- 2 coats would be more than enough. So I'm convinced, however I will keep the eyes and bake a 4th time just to be totally confident. But only when I bake something else now. I will put up photo's soon (probably blurry, ye-gods..)

3rd Bake 3rd bake Yep blurry..but at least you can see they aren't bubbled and still clear..will be asking Santa for a new camera, one that has a clear zoom. If you want me to take photo's of the 4th bake, I'll get Jesse to take them with his 'phone camera. I show my age with techy things hehe.

Thanks fantail..I'm very pleased it did too. Mainly because I know you and Blue were both looking for a product that would survive the baking process. After all the advice, guidance and support you all have given me it feels good to give something back. I hope this helps any others too. So the product is EnviroTex Lite. 4 fl.oz or 118ml 2 part resin. I bought mine in 2007 at Mitre 10 for $29.95. Now I'd better get on with making a couple of pairs of eyes for the marionettes and get back to working on them... Good luck with your projects everyone

thanks ever so much for that.....sincerely ... will pop it on the shopping list.
yaaa
have to invent a fabric body today for my wee toy girl.... i tried last night but had a bit of a migraine and for the love of god what was i thinking its terrible so will redo it today.........lmao
but i just cant wait to get her finished....... its getting exciting i cant wait for her to be together so i can show her. well... sneaky sneaky show yaz im pretty much committed her for commercial but i will limit the time on the books and if she gets no customers ill do her in plastic myself regardless....
and im gonna crank out the airbrush and have a play with some canvas. feel the need to express some unrestrained creative flair that will see me to tea time : )
have a wonderful day ladies

Oh it sound so exciting Now the real fun starts Donna - when you have a nice pair of eyes to sculpt with it makes it so much easier. will have to look into that resin now that I know it works but will try out the magic gloss in the mean time -post bake Blue I just can't wait to see the little girl- have fun being creative

;D Good morning.. Well I'm seriously over making eyes now..I have a few so hope to get my hands in the clay today ;D seems like ages... Ooh I cant wait to see the little girl either, and how did the airbrush painting go Blue? would love to see what you created. I have 5 unfinished paintings and 2 promised that I havent started yet..sculpting took over. I'll have to divert back to painting soon. How is your dragon coming along fantail? Bll, did you get your pieces finished? I would love to see what you came up with. Anubis have you made anymore pixies? What a clever lot here... Sculpting, designing, painting, sewing, creating all sorts... great company to be with, lotsa fun ;D Have a really happy day...

I tried painting the nail heads and the first coat rubbed off, tried again baked longer , same painted shine remover which I got with some of the small pots of GHS paints and baked but I didn't try to rub it off - will try painting more when its sunny again- they are slippery surfaces to paint
Dragon still needs to be sewn together but the tummy needs to sew by machine first so swapped to a bit of sculpting
Donna have fun if you sculpt or paint today Hope you have some creative time too people

Hmmm, I wondered about that when I saw the surface of the nails.. Blue has probably found a solution for that.. The GHS product should work though. I do know of other sealer products, but thats a whole 'nother story.. I have looked at the eyes in daylight and was cursing I hadnt thought to use the teeny nail heads for irises on them..duh!!! The resin has magnified them and I'm not happy that that aren't perfectly round, and one I wanted to use has an air bubble right over the iris..grrrr..tempted to make new ones.. or maybe I'll just ignore it...

Arg if its not moonies its eyes - Well the paint didn't just rub off this time but I did accidently scratch one ;P Sorry to hear the one you wanted to use had a bubble Since the eyelids often cover parts of the iris you should be able to twist them so that you can still use them

my big bad bad !!!............. should brush them all ways with a paper or emery lightly to give the paint grip....im so sorry ladies... only very lightly tho. you can actually buy packs of brushed chrome nailheads. and these are perfectly suitable. the domed ones are no good. we needs the flats.
well yesterday was a waste of work. for some mad reason i wanted to paint my prototype with a layer of skin but right on the last coat.......FAR OUT my brush spat spots....rarrrrrrrrrr so moral of story is if you use acrylic paints in airbrush stop every half hour to clean the tip of youll get buildup and it will spit..................grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr at dots. so yes had to strip it all off............... lets say thats not an easy job when yoru trying to preserve a finish..........now ive wrecked a few spots and have had to redo them...GRRGRRRRRRRRRRR im over this doll........................and she will have to stay brown.........for now.
but the cheapie airbrush is actually very very good. works well with a acrylic at 40 psi in a fine fine mist. nice and easy to hold with smaller hands......the trigger isnt bad but ill remake it with a stronger spring type later on. im actually impressed with these cheepies. they work as well at a $200 + badger.
anyhow........... just cant be bothered with the sewer today again. looked at it all and walked away. bad a
gonna go play up in the studio ...........
hope all your projects are coming along well am dieing to see pics....

Thanks for letting me know Blue- guess I should've known - Doh Oh no that's terrible - a horrible lesson to learn at the end Hope you can fix it Ugh what is it with sewing machines...
Have fun Blue

I'm back.. coz the eyes are annoying me I hope you have fixed the scratch fantail...and Blue..well what could I say , I wouldn't have wanted to be in earshot when that happened. This is certainly a 'challenging' art form huh!! Well I refuse to make more eyes, I'm just going to have to go with these crooked, badly painted iris ones that won't line up to look straight ahead...Hahahaha. Marionettes are sitting in the sun so off I go (feel a bit better now) ;D

so so sorry about the eyes i should have mentioned it but i just........forgot : (
i wonder if your eye printouts would glue onto those nailheads for nothing more than perfect symetry ? dont kill me
i know the eye experimentation can lead one to the brink of insanity......... but hang in there
within earshot Donna HAHAHAHAHAHA nay......... just a motherly silent.cold hard stare... whilst emitting invisible rays of deathly loathsome annoyance and disbelief at myself for doin something so stupid to start with.....
oh well. can fix it ....
and yer sewing machines....... i think they all have a wireless hookup to some other planet where an annoying little insane alien decides when and what they will and will not sew.. i think he sits there until we get to the most important part and then somehow wirlesley charge the sewer to speed and catch the fabric and bobbins with invisible ET threads. when i find him.........im going to needle felt him into a ball and kick him to Uranus HONEST !
but to be honest my overlocker is even more insane than my sewer........
then again im probably more insane than both of them.... must be the genesis fumes ; )
ok now im gonna go do something productive that has nothing to do with sewers or paint of any kind..............
have a wonderful weekend ladies... xR

The fault was all mine for NOT using the nail heads you gave me Blue..don't know where my head was at , still I'm not certain if the marionettes are going to work, yet another experiment, so I won't get too worked up. I'll have it sussed by the next project. Now I'm working on the faces..my first go at REAL faces...Boy are they UGLY right now heeheehee. Aahh sewing, and another Goblin-type sent to try us. Well I'll have to break out the machines for these ones at the end. Wait for trantrums if that doesn't go easy (and we know it wont Lol ) 'specially when I'm planning vintage/goth/tutu type outfits. I had a lucky break at the doll-show tho', found 2 HauteDoll books for sale, with the perfect patterns to modify, so at least I don't have to design from scratch. Well better get back to the ugly-mugs and try to make them pretty..

Find a photo of someone you'd like it to look like - it normally helps me even if you don't want it to look exactly like them

sewers seam either to be houses for either fairys or goblins..
Maybe anubis can fill us in on *how to tame a sewer*.
i fink she has the Midas touch with hers.
maybe we need a beet-nick beads charm to tame them ?
