everyone is being so productive right now, yay heaps of cool things to look at... see Blue, little boy looks gorgeous now. Excellent job with the hair.. I've been on beck 'n' call to 'Flue-ridden 15yr old, but now recovered he's off to stay with girlfriend in Wellsford for the weekend..*sigh..my baby is fluttering his wings..should get time to sculpt now anyway I did manage to fit a few bits in anyway, which I shall show you soon... Bll gave me the idea to use up some of the face-cane squish and the experimental eyes (which baked fine a 4th time btw). You might not like the result of my recycling tho', hehe. They are adapted from a Christi Freissen design. Was going to show the faces for your critique too before I clean, scrape and bake.. Please be gentle No grids or symmetry stuff... first time faces don't forget..'specially you Blue heehee re 'big jaw baby' comment LOL LOL Also in usual form for me...the photo's are appalling, they def look better in RL, blue eyed girl doesn't really have mumps on one side haha..I'll be back with photo's soon..

LOL Blue - no nothing to hold it in place - I had bad experience with paperclay under polymer and I always feel the need to adjust them more so I prefer not to bake them in place either
Ouch a literal heart ache - the are fun and gruesome he he Hey your marionette's faces are looking good those eyes are really great Will have to invest in some of that resin Looking forward to more of their progress pics
While trying to fix the back of the head of the one I'm working on I squished his face a bit never mind still trying to capture the expression

Hey thanks you two, I really appreciate your comments.. Honestly tho' I look at the pieces in real life and then in the photo's they look crap, my camera isn't doing my work any justice ..oh well, I can't afford a new one at the moment, I guess it gives you the idea of how its going anyway. Good luck fantail, I'm looking forward to following the progress with this one ;D I bought a clay called Sculpey Ultra Light from Zigzag..it was said to be ideal as an armature base, it's really lightweight. I used it for the bodies of these marionettes, although I did use wire as well, but I'm a bit lazy. I thought it worked extremely well and it was cheap... in case you were interested ;D hehe.

Sometimes its taking a photo from the right angle that represents how you see it. I still need to get the right angle of witchypoo I'm trying not to spend money, but thank you for letting me know It might be nice for wings and leaves - do you bake it too?

Yes you do bake it, I bought it for armatures, you use it instead of tape and tinfoil. I will try it for some other things too as it can be rolled out really thin but remains very flexible, good for leaves etc..it also floats !! I don't think it would be too great to sculpt with though..its quite soft and spongy. Anyway I thought you might like to know about it, might be better than paperclay..

Thank you for letting me know about it. I'd love to give it a go one day- I have played with those supper light paper clays before that are also soft and spongy and the dry out really fast. I used it to get imprints of my nieces feet and made the angle's feather wings

;D "BIG HI" everyone.. hope you all enjoyed the beautiful long weekend ;D I managed to work on the faces some more late yesterday. They weren't getting much better only more dirty.. and at risk of going the same way as the other heads (ripped off and squished) so I baked them anyway. Now I'm scraping and sanding imperfections. They have moonies where the faces meet the baked heads so I'll be able to trial the clay-match paint I told you about, see if it covers moonies as well as dirt or fluff..so I'll let you know.. I would take photo's but fat lot of good that will probably be LOL.
Ooohh drooling over the BJD, how gorgeous, she has done a brilliant job of her (in usual fashion) *Sigh I'm giving up on my dream to do one now, but I love to see how wonderful others can create them...thanks fantail

shall do gorgeous............. sometimes i get so busy inventing things its such hard work figuring out all manner of strange doll things its exorcising hard to find that balance of enjoyment an magic and workload. sometimes there's just so much work...and none of it is fun... hard finger twisting nail breaking work and trickery. then there is letting go to the creative flow and just enjoying and throwing the good ol magic back into it the spring in your step so to speak Gosh that sounds like a whole bunch of drivel but i hope ya know what i mean ; )
i guess there's 50 hours of eye experiments before we can * just make them* and be satisfied.....
just so long as the bar we have raised is still within our reach....
darn perfectionists SHESH !!!
off to see the wizard

'morning all, hope you are all well, happy and being creative. Thanks to snotty kid last week I feel a bit 'fluey..sore throat and watery eyes aarrgh!!! Not too bad tho'..I'm trying hard to ignore it and wish it away. The faces got the hard-out dermabrasion yesterday, especially the blue eyed girl..I kinda know I should have re-made these faces but I think I might have given up on the project altogether if I started them again.. (I'll get better in time) Moving on now, going to work on the backs today and fatten the limbs. Hope you're having fun with all your projects Blue... Fantail did you get the eye sorted, and how's the dragon pattern going? Anubis, Bll and Lindiloo..anything new for you? Have a great day everyone ;D

Hi Donna .Take care of yourself now so it won't get worse Donna. Hehe dermabrasion ;D - what we do to our sculpts I think the eye is finally in the right position but its cold again today which isn't that good for working with clay. I'm trying to fix the nose. he had several nose jobs now and still trying to sort out the head shape and eyelids then ears. As for the Dragon - the pattern has undergone many changes so I have no plans on selling it and if it wasn't for the stretchy material the legs would be too skinny but it is finally coming along- working on the wings and back ridge. the feet are still turning out - naughty feet I'm also making a doggy costume from scratch for one of my niece's dolls. "Phew," its a lot easier to sew straight lines with the sewing machine. again there is always things I would like to change- next time . I know what you mean by giving up if you would have to start over. Did you receive your material yet Anubis

Wow fantail youre really busy.. Lol dermabrasion, nose jobs we sound more like plastic surgeons sometimes huh! * laughing too at thought of skinny-legged dragon hehe. Looking forward to seeing what you have come up with.. betting it's really cool, also the doggy suit.. that would've taken some working out... super-cool projects going on for you. I hope your material did arrive Anubis, the market is in November right? Blue have you had enough of a break yet? Can't wait for the new doll.. I didnt do any clay-work today after all..took a break myself, went outside and worked to sweat out this cold.. might do some tonight.

hahaha Donna I was thinking the same thing (plastic surgeons). First day back at work today after tonsilitis - 2nd bout this year. Doc says you have to have it 5 times in 12 months before they'll look at taking them out now. Knowing my luck it will be 5 times in 13 months. I'll be happy if I never get it again. Funny how you take for granted automatic reflexes like swallowing until they're almost impossible. Anyway, I am still working on the face buttons (boy, they are Ugly). Getting their polish coats today.

Hehe sure does sounds like plastic surgery Sorry to hear you had tonsillitis again Bll Hope you don't have to suffer from it again I found that supplements with iodine helps heal tonsillitis or the iodine gargle does relieve the pain and swelling for a while
Spindly legged slayed footed dragonlet - you'll have to decide if he even looks dragonish

Oh Bll, so sorry to hear you've been suffering again ..how awful for you, I won't be moaning about my very slight sore throat now..I too hope you don't have to suffer again. I don't understand why they don't just remove them when they cause so much distress. I'm looking forward to seeing the buttons you made from the faces ..and the dragon fantail.. bet he's not spindly and slay footed at all My cold is heaps better btw..haha I beat it so far.. 'night all.
