Awe Blue can she get any cuter Thank you both for the pics
Not sure whats best either - but personally I'd do as Blues said add a bit of cornstarch just on the ball where you don't want the clay to stick but don't get it on any of the sides where you want the clay to bond . Use a little liquid clay where you want the clay to bond - just a tiny bit cause you don't want it to squeeze out inside the head then you add the raw clay Twist the neck before baking to ensure it isn't sticking
Hope you fix it without troubles

thank you girls... I guess I knew I had to re-do, I was secretly hoping you'd say "yea just glue it" hehe. It wouldn't have been very strong either would it.. Oh well, I won't make it into a drama, I'll get onto fixing it. I was just about to brag about how I hadn't dropped or broken these ones too.. so there you go!! Thanks for all the tips too. ;D I'll climb up in the attic and have a look at the material I have left...as soon as I can, I have to help my brother and SIL do some things for my nephews 21st on Saturday. I'll see what else I have too.. Well I'll go and do some repairs now..

BOL with the repairs hope her head doesn't darken too much you can wrap the baked parts in wet tissue hopefully that might help
Oh Blue I have never seen aluminium foil rust, I don't think it does and ditto on what Donna said about the wire

I will wrap with wet paper towel then, I would prefer to only do one more bake of the head/body if I can get away with that. It's darkening already versus the limbs, so maybe I should repair the head and finish the body at the same time now, then bake. I can bake the limbs separately...hmmmm!!! Blue, I meant to ask if that was okay that I still have to get some things together for Anubis posting, or did you want to get it away sooner? Getting together for a coffee sounds nice ( hoping you'd like me in RL hehe )

Blue I KNOW I will like YOU..haha ;D I would love it if EVERYONE here could meet for coffee. Good for you getting 2 babies heads finished today... I got a visitor so no repairing in the end. Anubis is going to be very excited when she gets your bits n pieces Blue.. I haven't been into the clay long enough to accumulate anything yet, but I could spare some eyelashes and some tussah silk (for hair) and a couple of silk 'hankies' which are like spider webs if that is of any use to anybody. And fantail I thought you might be interested in trying some of the clay match paint if I put some in a little container..I have the super-sculpey match, which is what you use isn't it? But otherwise I just have material (well I HOPE I still have it) I will definitely go and look tomorrow.
Bll..are you all better?
I need an early night to kill off the last of the flu' ..'night all

even tho we are all mostly spread out across the land we have managed to have little hook ups here and there and also at the doll shows to . its pretty cool really. always funny putting face to name. Oooh wouldn't it be great if there was somewhere we could all meet and have some clay time. If I won a million dollars...
Hi Blue. Yes please if I may have a few bottles to put some paint in for Donna I have a few glass bottles but they have cork tops which won't be good long term , Maybe we should start up the Box again Donna would you like a dash of blue, red, white, purple, funny green and brown and there are two skin flesh shades (2 and 5 or something) I just don't have much of the Genesis thinning medium which you will need for these as they aren't premixed unless you use thinners or what ever else is suitable
I'll have to see what else I have to swap

;D Morning everyone.. Fantail you wont need to swap me anything..nice thought tho', and actually Blue sent me some samples of genesis colours with the lenses, luffly lady cant wait to try them too..if I ever get that far haha. I would send with the velvet...speaking of..I'll climb up there now. I have to take all the sheets and towels out of the hall cupboard and do the climb, so I've been putting it off..but it would be better if it was put to gorgeous creations instead of up there.. I remember reading about the 'box' a short while back. Did it circulate and you put bits in or something?

the box was cool.....photo of cat in Said box ! NZ post decided to hike up postage prices so it would actually be cheaper just to send a box of bits to anyone that need thingies really to be honest ill pass the pottles onto Donna when we hook up and you gals can do whatevers ya like ; ) but do hold onto that thinner container Donna cause its *the right plastic. i get it off robbity bob from TM but you all welcome here any old time the studio has enough seating at *the table for all ID love to get you over here tails....hmmmmmm maybe train one day ? Im going to also join the Ak doll club cause they have monthly meet ups ( working bees with dolls also lessions/ lectures and things its just a way of keeping in touch shareing some materials and education etc. mostly porcelain doll making but they dont mind *Other type artists ; ) now im not homeschooling any more its so quiet at my place.... anyhow.. hope your bake went well tails and donna what can i say..... Up a rabbit hole and back down with treasures oh my lmao Bll hope ya feeling better honey Anubis how goes it girlie xR Attachments:

Thats true blue- we'll just do micro swaps Never traveled by train before Cool - The club sounds great It was just scones at 5 this morning so they'll be fresh - don't know how great they were, the biscotti and banana cake turned out fine yesterday Donna, that won’t do. Swap means I give you something in return I’ll have to find something, anything you're looking for perhaps What about some tiny glass bottles with microbeads and something else- I can't think what I can contribute any way here is the photos of the doggy costume on a Fisherprice dolly

Thank you blue- If you ever want me to make a doggie, bear or mouse costume for you let me know or if you want this pattern though you might want to adjust the feet as here she still has shoes on and i don't know if I could explain how I did the ears but you may have a better way as well with the front panel. I'm surprised she sat up she is a bit of a slouchy doll ;D
Donna do you also want a gum massager tip for sculpting?

I had to log off quickly before coz I got another visitor today, which is very unusual for me (I'm a self-imposed loner ), she has just left, so I STILL haven't 'crawled up the rabbit hole' haha. I feel bad about that too...I promise I will. You have been busy today I see... fantail what a beautiful costume you made, you are so talented my girl, you must be the favorite Aunty of all time.. Blue did you note she mentioned scones, biscotti and banana cake..hehe imagine those with coffee..She's a dream that girl. What a gorgeous cat you have..I have 3 short haired and a dog and I thought I had a problem with pet hair and clay..look at his beautiful thick fur. I got the clay match paint from robbity-bob, she has good things. Fantail about the swap..I find giving alot easier than receiving or asking to be honest but I'm sure I could happily put a little glass jar to good use, or a gum massager thingy (don't know what it is, but I'm sure it would be better than my fat fingers.. but wait til I get your stuff to you first. ;D And I'll happily give some silk hankies to you blue, you've already given me lots of bits ;D

LOL now I'm in for it, I already have to bake some more tomorow Its a pointy rubber tip that I think lindiloo introduced to us, can't find the link right now but hope you will find it handy as it can be hard to come by and I managed to get my hands on more a while ago. You can understand then that I can't take without giving in return No hurry by the way I have to clean the cave of wonders. I find it hard to plan anything nowadays as things just keep coming up but I would like to meet up one day Love the cat in the box picture

Morning Lufflies
well baked my baby faces........... sanding a tad now ones fine needs a good sand to soften up a few little divots at the back of the ol head. as for the other well ive decided i dont like the eyes at all so i might have to either carve them out and resculpt or clay on and turn it into another sleeper hmmmmmmm but hmmmmm they have gone from 15 inchers to 16 inch grrrrrrrrr cant believe it tho two faces in two days how the HECK did that happen usually leave them around for a good 6 weeks to tweak them...... at this size it would just be easier to sculpt another head than stuff with them to much.
as for my catz.i love them little suckers. the grew twins......are a pain with my clay totally and i have a fluffy wintercat / scragglie summer cat who is the infamous cat bugler. i seriously have never met an animal like her. she is very smart and articulate about what she wants to claim as hers not a cuddlie animal more a company body guard. her best friend is my frog... but they are good company for me during the days anyhow.
as for all this baking, well you make anything in chocolate tails and i might have to adopt you. SERIOUSLY !
but i do love the doll outfits what length body are they for? about 15 inch? youve done a fantastic job that little tail is adorable as are the ears. well done i loves it
I dunno where this rain came from today but it will be a good day tucked up in the studio at least..... its not cold down here tho just dark.
oh well best get a wriggle on the laundry's just abut done.... catch yaz latters

Lol I don't think Mom would allow that The biscotti had cocoa and dried cherries in it - a made up recipe but they are great with chocolate mouse (I can attest to that) and would be really nice if you dipped them in chocolate too best go bake some more non chocolate biscotti so I can clean after Ah well, I love them sleepers can't wait to see them both though Is it because of the bodies and clothes that the babies need to be 15 inches She is 14 inches her body is 235mm, torso is about 115mm so you will probably need to make it longer and adjust the body as it is one of those sitting dolls with floppy legs. I gathered the material at the hips a bit but it looks cute. Maybe if I can borrow one of your dollies later I can make it for you ;D or if I come visit oneday

you said cherrys and chocolate in the same sentence....FAINT !!! pics of some old dolls that have finally got new clothing the rest will have to still wait a bit. id made the armature to scale for 15 inchers........groan. whats an inch. urg just the gridth scale really but it will be fine....... am just trying very hard to keep to scale. im determined to have hands and feet to the RIGHT scale with these even if i have to chop them off 5 times do achieve it. oooh fantastic collection its inspiring, thank you for the photos ;D I liked the eyes but when you are not happy its best to go with your gut, eyes aren't cheap they are beautiful heads you sculpted and I still like the wee sleeper there on the left too your sculpting is wonderful and those heads look so smooth, the bone structure is perfect .

Ooh what a great collection of dolls !!! I thought the eyes were good too, but as fantail said... you are the one who has to be happy with how they look. Beautiful work on them both, they are wonderful and look very real.
What is your opinion on commercial moulds, as in body moulds for fairies etc (like patricia roses ones for example)
Are they good as a base to sculpt from? or do you think its cheating or not original etc?
