Well I did it... Unfortunately there wasn't as much of the panne velvet as I hoped, but still enough to be useful for little critters or capes etc. Washed up and on the line now... Is it just Anubis and Fantail interested in some of this fabric? I have decent piece of an dark gold colour and a green/black sorta leopard print, smaller amount of dark blue and dark red, and very small amount of bright red...

If you don't have enough to give away I don't mind if you keep it Donna it will be cooler to see it as a cloak on one of your sculpts in other words don't give it away if you have something in mind for it

;D You're a sweet person Fantail. There would be enough for me to cut a bit off for myself and still enough for what you two would make, like dragons or similar. Before cutting... theres about 1 and 2 square metres each colour and about 3 metres of the gold. I would rather see photos of gorgeous things you might make from it than have it in a suitcase Without wanting to sound like a whinger, I'm a bit sad about my progress with sculpting at the moment.. I don't think the marionettes are going to work out, and I don't feel inclined to finish the sprites, maybe I need to work on something a bit less complicated until I get some more practice in. So I can't see my way to getting a cloak or clothes on much at the moment...LOL Or maybe I just need to harden up and go and fix the stupid looking legs, hehehe ;D

If it is feeling too hard sometimes taking a break from one project can help. it keeps you from overworking something when you are stuck and keeps you fresh the only problem is not finishing any thing I have a lot of unfinished objects but when I don't have anything new in mind or don't feel like doing anything, I do go back to them

You'd be very welcome to some of both those colours Blue and some silk hankies, I also think the tussah silk would be ideal for some of your iddy-biddies too, coz its lovely and fine. I'll have to come and see you and I'll collect a tub for fantail for the paint too ;D Well if its just the 3 of you for the velvet I'll cut it up tomorrow... Oh yeah, thank you both for the pep talk too, had a crappy morning and I was feeling a bit biarchy, so the marionette copped it..I will leave her for a few days then I'll go back to them.

making/inventing things can so often be so darn technically tricky
darn it all ...
But you ARE doing great and you ARE achieving : )
Tails is so good, she has a shelf where things wait so patiently Im bad I have a dodgy box where things go straight to purgatory sometimes never to return ; )
One thing i do know is that whatever spirit is within you will come threw you into your clay... now i know that sounds so kooky but its true. Working while in the right mood/spirit is imperative.
TAILS !!!! i have some good quality bear making fur . i have whites browns blacks and a few mixtures of other colours id be happy to add to donnas pile for you.... ill swap you for some biscotti (Kidding )
Donna your welcome around any time... i dont bite much or bite hard enough to leave permanent marks ; )

Not kooky at all Blue and sometime you need to sculpt to get into the mood - vicious circle Some of the chocolate and cherry biscotti Blue? Or do you like ginger and almond? I'll have to make some more You don't happen to have a photo of the mentioned fur ( Im a furaholick - not in some weird way- loves them fake fur like a kid in a toy shop) Let Anubis get first dibs though No shelf lots of boxes and trays of unfinished items and newly started or forgotten I don't have a spare shelf - too much stuff that I don't want to get rid of When I buy fabric for the crafts I often only buy a third of a meter and often I don't use it all

Ill get a pile together Tails and maybe send it off with donnas paint stuff to you. no worries k ; ) after exams my daughters making some small bears to but theres plenty enough her's are just small 9 inch polar bears they dont use much fabric. the large lot of white short pile was from spotlight its nice and soft i wonder if you could dye it. hmmmmmmmm my spotlight sux there are no prices anywhere ... they dont / wont even give your items a plastic bag so you walk out the door with 5 packets of beads ribbons and bits trying not to drop things.......... i despise that place......... our only other fabric shop shut down.... and the emporium burnt down...... maybe thats a sign to use up what i have first.........NA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cant be bothered fluffing with the legs any more now its the feet that are not right and im to tired...... my eyes just keep going googlie and my brains half way between off and on
ok off to grab your fur and pottles yaa.

Ah thank you Blue, but what would you like in return? The chocolate biscotti won't be enough I'm sure
I think it is spotlight in general - sometimes you overpay for products which you won't notice till you check the receipt but the biggest problem is the lack of pricing and most of the time I'd rather go without then stand in line and have to make decisions on the spot. Their loss really. There was a time where a lot of the craft places closed down here too but there has been a few replacements- still not the same. I do use the white from time to time but I don't need loads of it I have read up about dying and the best dye is koolaide - though they don't sell that here I'm curious if those other instant coldrinks will work but synthetic dyes might last longer
Hope you have better luck with the legs and feet tomorrow

;D Hello... Having busy times, Man needs assistance at the moment I loathe our spotlight too and if I ever meet those wayward brats who burnt down Geoffs Emporium.. Anyway.... Blue I'm not quite ready blame the man..would Thursday be okay or anytime after tomorrow that suits you? And I don't think your comment was Kooky either, my way of thinking too, usually. Was good to be reminded of that and it rang true loud and clear...thank u Also Fantail and Anubis would you like a sample of the tussah silk? Would be good for bits of hair on the fabric creatures..I have enough to share..I think its great. Also a few silk hankies..you peel them apart at whatever thinness you want, then it looks like cobwebs. If you do I can include some with your bits.. Off out but I'll sort the stuff out when I get home later... There will be no excuses for lack of inspiration with all your new fluffies and fabrics... ;D

a few needle falters use that kool aid for dyeing i wondered if raro would do the trick but aparently koolaids got better colours. hmmmm i bet evilbay has it........
as for spotlight ......What the heck is wrong with that place omg there are two teenage girls at mine that follow people round pulling faces behind their backs........ i will OWN the pair of them one of these days. rarrrrrrr
yer its sad those kids burn down the emporium bunch a spraycan kids from the skate park. little snots that was our last crafty place left where you could hunt threw and find some real treasures... a few meters of pretty lace a meter or three of something cotton and maybe a bead or 50 sigh...............
there is another emporium down dominion road theres lots of fabrics a little laces and such... its not the same tho the one in browns bay seams to have gotten a little more expensive shesh the one out south is meant to be very good. the one in hamilton is fantastic. really really fantastic.
Anyhow Thursday Donna is perfectly fine. or friday either ither is fine I can meet you down at the cafe by the post office lincon road ? or your welcome to pop here and have a raid while your at it ; ) \
Tails honey I dont need for anything --- just pay it forward ; ) what goes out comes back tenfold one way or another
BUt im just so grateful to you all thank you for letting me share I know it is harder to receive than give ; )

Hi Blue may I also snap up the red-brown piece on the bottom left I was wondering if I could make a few onsies for your little babies from some of the pretty t-shirt material I have in return for the fur
I will pay it forward but doesn't mean if the opportunity comes by that I can't pay it back ;P
I’ve read that masking tape can also reduce contact with the clay to the wire if there is any reaction before it’s baked and it does help the clay stick

If you fold tinfoil over the front and back of the finished doll and trace the shape where the parts meet and send it to me I can make the pattern from that to fit
Does Maccano or Knex have ball socket joints

Just had a quick play with a cheap building set pieces. I don’t have a proper ball joint part. The shaft tappers to the ball (some jewellery oddity) and the thickening part means it only bends about 60 degrees The plates don’t have deep sockets so it can turnlike a propeller and move it bake and forth like a hinge but it doesn’t have any rotation in the socket like a joystick because of the shallow socket and because the shaft is big Maybe the right size washers glued to the plates could make the socket “deeper”

ah thanks so much i knew youd understand me lmao
after fainting again and picking myself up from the floor again at those prices........ im gonna just have to invent something.
ive been down to the engineering place down here and the sockets dont have more than 180 degrees movment range...no good. 8 bucks a threaded bearing GET REAL when you need a pile of them ummmmmmm it just aint gonna happen. hmmmm humph
and that armature is beautifully jointed....but .....to much pocket money for me im afraid. and yes mechano was my first port of call actually but............urg thats not right either.
RAR ..................
I have the *Yoshida Style Ball Jointed Doll Making Guide in the post on its merry way to me. oh how i have dreamed of this book for years...and years....... finally it shall be mine MINE !!! yer baby
but i might give it a go with air clay just for my first till i have a good go at those joints. i dont like cricket knees and elbows. rar
but yer topmarks i LOVE those ladies.......... there is a resin i have my eye on to caste some balljoints for insertion hmmmmmmmm
there is another sculpting studio down dominion road. resins silicone's tools etc. products are all comparative tho really.
can you tell im avoiding fixing up sculpted baby feet at all costs today.... looked at them .screwed up my nose and left them there..........gees poke me with a big sharp stick i should get back to work and just fix them and stop this dreaming of other things today.
p.s how about i send you some of my boo boo casted limbs NO LAFFIN THO to show size etc then you can chuck them out when ya done ; )

your ****ontoit the depth and placement of the socket bar hole and space from edge / end is where the limitations are in a sense
i think the joint might need a redesign in a seance that ball and cup to replace ball and bar maybe ball and two part screw together cup more like a shoulder socket with a rim. i dunno if that made any darn seance at all........... hmmmmm

I know what you mean Good old hip bone joints I tried it this way and you can bend it to 180 degrees and twist but it still doesn’t have the rotation that I spoke about above It's just some cheaper alternatives
