i can recommend using steal shot aka ball-bearings to weight parts. glue and wire wrap then tape over incorporated into armature. use armature extension for attachment hook/ hoop hold hoop with hemostats/clamp to sculpt part. clay will shrink over metals so give it some space with papertape or foil etc. lead is a questionable metal. as are magnets. even small magnets are no good near cards/pc. tv/ pacemakers/ hearing aids etc hope that helps somewhat x Attachments:

thanks so much. ;D
sorry pic is ruff but umm i just tie myself in knots trying to explain things without pics sometimes lmao but end hook is made from same armature wire ( one piece etc ) dunno shrugs....
but i like your washer idea it makes perfect sense - perfect. but shoe eyelets also hmmmmm hold onto them donna i found a pack of small black ones but im not sure if they small enough scale for the boots its goona be a matter of making them up to see. it bugs me to see gorgeous doll boots with too big an eyelet it ruin's the hard work. but those small eyelets are great for doll corset ribbons also the pastels would be perfect for that. i miss our emporium sigh
i love rubbing brains with you lot you have the coolest ideas. we talk the same thingy majiggie language HA

Hugs to you both, you're the best... I also luv the fact that we share the same "inventive, problem-solving, what-if-we-try-this.." mentality. Lol. Excellent diagram thanks Blue... I will definitely follow both your advice. Yep ball bearings would be better, and they're not as heavy as lead. Luckily I only got as far as putting out my tutorials and chenille sticks last night and sat staring at them for ages.. *I'm going to try chenille sticks 'coz I'm clumsy with wire. I also checked out Natasha's excellent blog on her bjd and noted she had only used clay without issue, so I wont let myself over-think things too much. Blue did you enjoy the tiny BJD, I thought you might think about ball-jointing your iddy-biddies..Hehehe Fantail I know you will make a BJD soon, and it will be GREAT... Well I'm off..for awhile... hope you're having a fab day Blue

yuppers totally i could imagine you tails stringing those together bear parts with pixie threads making them bears move it move it....... oh dear lord id rather punch myself square in the face than even attempt such a thing............ it takes my mind to the sculpts in the eye of a needle and sculpted pencil leads........ admire it to bits but NEVA gonna do it !! EVER thanks for the tutorials tails im gonna sink my fangs and digest the whole lot of that stuff wow wow and thank you soooooooo much. couldn't be more perfect yaaaaa so much info so few braincells.... and yer that bjd 200 pieces WHY ? 80 joints WHY it is a brilliant articulated piece of art but whoa !! i think personally the face lets it down. No offense to the artist but if it was humanoid it would be a commercial winner. 14 inch and 14 odd pieces is enough to turn me into a raving obsessive compulsive lunatic we all have our limits these apparently are mine lmao xR

Oh thank you Blue... geez her work IS tiny.... I checked out the other miniaturists there too, the crochet work Anubis will like that site... Anubis check out the Roombox gallery for the work of Peter from Dunedin, you will love that.... I'll have to go back later and have a better look around.. I'm sure I saw her at the doll show actually, by the doors... there was so much to take in that day. Blue I hope you enjoyed your day today... ;D

Good morning to you all.. Just calling in to say Hi.. and secretly hoping there'd be photos of Anubis' minis... I haven't progressed yet, I need to scout the hardware store for bits I need.. hopefully someone has invented what I think I need.. and I couldn't find any ball-bearing around home.. The shop assistants around here run off when they see me coming... I hope you're all having a wonderful weekend...

Woohoooo! Whoawhooooaaaa, we're halfway there, whoawhoooaaa LIVIN ON A PRAYER!! Awesome weekend in Wiggleton. Back to reality. ugh. No clay (shock horror) but I did start on upcycling Christmas cards last night. Christmas tree will be up this week, last week of school (2 days of prizegiving etc next week). Then +mas madness ensues.

'morning all.. Woke this morning to the realisation of how close Xmas is, and I've not done a thing.. in fact I feel like the Grinch 'coz I dont even want to put up the tree..messy things.. I'm sure I'll be inspired and festive once I make a start.. I do like to shop for pressies though so I'll make a start tomorrow, and while I'm out, there are a couple of things I need to get that I'm hoping you can help me with... I would like a heat/ embossing gun and I'm having trouble finding one, I was thinking of trying Kmart tomorrow.. But mainly- have any of you used pens on the clay, and if so what brand would you recommend? I checked out Glass Attic.. but there were so many variants I thought I'd ask you guys for advice.. Well I'm off to the hardware store for the ball-bearings etc & to get paint tinted, I'm going to try to paint the kitchen dining rooms before Xmas, just to add to my confusion ;D Have a great day..
