Thats great fantail. I really hope it works out like you want it to. Hope you have heaps of fun making eyes. I really enjoyed making eyes and I'd like to make some more soon. Are you making them for little beastie? How is he coming along? I finished the feet a few days ago, but I haven't baked them coz I'm not too sorted on the ankle attachment yet. I stripped the fingers off the hands and pared them down to start again. They weren't going right.

I only started on the eyes now will probably only try the resin part next week Beastie has closed eyes but I haven't had the patients to finish the sculpting yet Hope you figure out the ankle attachment I just watched the dvd on antique doll reproduction but it didn't really go into much detail at all the link you posted earlier probably had more info

;D Great to hear from you Blue, wonderful news 'bout your BJD's. This is exciting for me... I'm so happy you're making them. Can't wait until I am ready to tackle one myself, maybe after Fantail has The next thing I want to try is characters of people I know, like cake toppers, big heads with small bodies. I can draw likeness in portraits, but I think sculpting will be a whole different thing... I haven't much time for sculpting either... Btw: I have black jeans on too..*melt* the mongrel little mozzies have caused massive red welts on my lily-white legs LOL not a good look...hehe... I'll keep an eye out around here for the resin Blue.. Are you thinking of trying the glass cabs from coolstore? Best of luck with your projects everyone... ;D

The eyes I'm making at the moment are just from print-outs(photocopies) they are rather dark and I have a bunch of really small and then big-ish but no inbetween for some silly reason never mind still have to bake them I might give painting the nail heads another go tomorrow
Since I'm still making eyeballs the ball jointed doll won't happen soon I look forward to seeing the caricatures

Sounds cool Tails I cant wait to see them. always so darn interesting ;D those printouts always look so pretty. I dont know if youve ever looked but have you ever had a good spy at the fancy contact lens's most aren't that detailed but they way some are printed is quite interesting. charleneshop.blogspot.com/2008/10/geo-magic-color-lens-catalogue.htmlhideki.modthesims2.com/download.php?t=382856I know they arent realistic per say but still just something a bit different to look at. I still love the eyes with swirly colour blotches pf pearlex. sigh oh so pretty. Yes I would like to use the glass lens's over painted nailheads set in clay. i feel i'll create more work than necessary but ummmm I just want to give it a try. I have to admit my favorite eyes are the ones with the pushed in iris, they just seam to ( the eyes seam to move with you this way) I just want to get this bjd done well both of them and fiddle around to decide which size i will actually need. right now ive gone with two different sizes but they are not true to size anyhow the 12 mm eye are actually only 10 mm but the iris is 6mm rar so making sure the eyeball is set from behind in a cavity that will suite more than one size. RAR did i say im making it harder for myself at all ? some people like the look of a dreamy larger iris some a smaller more natural looking eyeball... RAR !!! what do i want? just to complete the task without creating a googlie eyed dolly. still obsessed...........or possessed ! anyhow tho its looking to be another beautiful day. have fun ladies another day of westie uniform black jeans to cover the moontan. lol be bad..............be very very bad! X

oh no fantail, I just emailed you both all the eye charts I have accumulated. Hope they are useful... when I used them (victoria ones) I resized them (as in 4 sheets onto one page etc) and used a hole punch, to suit. Those are cool lenses Blue... I will NEVER make eyes again without using the nail heads in place of pupils, painting pupils is not good, they need to be perfect. the marionettes eyes are so NOT perfect... Yes that is the resin Fantail...

Thanks Fantail I saw them this time... wonderful too, there are so many gifted artists around it's such a pleasure to see their beautiful work... I am in a worried state right now, my family are in danger in Ipswich Australia and I'm very concerned for their well-being. My nephew is safe with my Mother, but his 2 storey house is completely submerged, he has lost almost everything. My Sister, BIL, Nephew, Niece her husband & children 2 & 5 have been trapped in my sisters house since yesterday. Next to the river the water is rapidly rising around them and they can't get out.. I'm concerned the house is going to collapse into the river....

Thank you for your best wishes Fantail, the power of prayer... I'm very pleased to report my sis and family are out of danger it seems. The water stopped rising 1 hour ago, just as it hit their house. My other sis further down has been evacuated from her home. *massive sigh of relief from me*
I need quiet time now.. so I'll have a better look at the sites you put up for us... ;D

Thank you so much Donna for the super pretty eyes. arent they so neat i love the multi coloured flecks.........sigh.......so pretty. and yes i totally understand about the pupils, but the black nailheads are 1.5 mm SO SMALL but they do make a big difference heck i cant ever get them completely symmetrical by hand. its also why i dont use eye cutouts i cant even cut them out symmetrical either lmao i guess more practice is required........ had some thoughts tho of using some painters tape eg signwriters/spraypainters masking tape its a thin vinyl sticky that pushes on peels off to punch a hole is pop over baked eyeball then paint the iris remove tape when paint is dry and get a nice sharp edge groan see it just never ends. Also So very glad your family is now safe and sound ........ this is so vast for AUZ just so much just so very much flooding. as for the doll links you ladies have me drooling over all those pretty things OH MAN !!! amazing works thats for sure. utterly incredible dolls. i am so drooling those BIG dollys OMG have a fantastic day ladies

;D Good morning to you all... Sorry 'bout all the iris sheets Blue, I didn't know you didn't use print-outs, something to look at anyway Making the perfect eyes seems to be bane of all sculptors, I see they are discussing them on the Ooak forum at the moment as well. Resins are being debated again too..I won't add my 10c worth tho'. Soon I will do the experiment again with 'good eyes' and put it on our forum. I had an idea of painting eyes larger, on paper, allowing for detail to be reduced then sizing and printing. So I have original print-outs. Like you say Blue, it goes on and on... Meanwhile I have to either get to work finishing these marionettes, or shelve for now and start something new... I'm wasting time now. ;D

A2 in parts waiting for sanding etc. torso in 3 parts .. also shoulders will have another two socket joints and probably also hips as you can see they are made with waste clay over normal wire and foil armature which i had to removed and brake sculpt apart. they will now be mounted onto sticks as individual parts so i can finish the sculpting then for the joint construction the extra joints in hips and shoulders allows for forward slumping and backwards bending. the joints will be true balls not hinge or beans ( i hate bean cricket knees) anyhow thats all folks.... it will be cool to see the parts take on realistic shape from here. i still have to work out the whole eye issue its just a time issue which is presently a struggle. but that's how it goes lufflies have a wonderful day xR Attachments:

No sorrys tis fine Donna i adore eyes even tho the whole eye issue tortures me so to the depth of my EYE CORE RAR~~~~~~~~~~~~~!
few years back i printed in diffy styles quality's etc on diffy papers , textures, tissues attempting to print the perfect mini eye after ending up with half a million printed sheets of eyes i discovered cutting even was not so easy. after making several million mismatched pairs of uneven wobblie looking eyes i just gave up i do a horrible job with them. ive seen people do beautiful jobs but alas i just cant sob and tails i even went out and brought recently a multi sized paper punch ...... its better than my last but. i still just dont have the knack.
ill give the painted nailheads another go and glue the glass carbs onto them and push the whole thing onto clay.
anyhow rant rant. im off to cause havoc and mayhem
