Hi everyone ;D Hi'ya Blue, lovely dolls on that link.. the ribbons look effective hiding the swivels..hmmm might need to remember that one... Thin little limbs on her BJD too, might mean less detail is needed..thanks for the link... I'll have a better look at it soon. Great to hear you're nearly finished your bjd's.. wahoo!!! hope you get the ankles sorted quickly.

I have a project on the go ;D I've started one of the caricatures which I'm making into a bobble-head (just because I like to make things more difficult..haha) This one is of my Mr... much to his horror.
I have the body completed minus shaping the arms as arms-crossed. I did sculpt the body for practice, but it is clothed now using clay. So far, so good... I am just hoping I can achieve likeness with the head next...
I'm having fun again.. ;D

It's sooo quiet without a houseful of teens, *sigh..I quite miss them now.. Half day for Jesse too then back on Monday, year 11 this year... I have to get in touch with my family to see whats up with them in Oz..geez my nephews house is just starting to be re-built, what a nightmare... Great news 'bout the job/work experience Fantail, looking forward to seeing little beastie finished... little cutie... ;D Blue I'm sanding as well... I've made a note to self..."Self, don't sculpt at 3am in dim light, it doesn't look so good in the light of day" yep, spring between neck and (hollow) head, I'll show the body when I've done the arms. I wasn't sure about clay clothes but it was the best option in the end... Mike did dinner, dishes and pet feeding so that I would hurry up and put clothes on his nakey mini-me.. standing in all it's glory on the table with loads of people around... hehehehehe!!!!

***Mike did dinner, dishes and pet feeding so that I would hurry up and put clothes on his nakey mini-me.*** HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Could be an ongoing plan WINK *** Shall we see a whole army of bobble head marks ? SNORT. that is just so funny. yer working at night under bulbs is never gonna go down well you hit that sunlight and ARG where did that scratch come from wowwwwwww but well done all the same. fascinated by the spring. yaaa is this bobble head man gonna sit on the bench and get a flick to the forehead each time hes bad? ?? and yer arent those sanding blocks grunty. ive just ordered some more if you want some. and yer soooooooooooooo quiet without teens around OMG im even harressing the cats for attention what is wrong with me to dream of solitude all these months then to bash around backwards looking for trouble..........oh gees. all good tho and next week will be mighty into the swing of things again. Tails Mark D has the midis touch i LOVEEEEEEEEEEEE his work ohhhhhhhhhh sigh.... and yer some of it unclothed can be a little edgy on the eye makes me wanna put some pants on things... which has led me to a decision to sculpt clay undies on my bjd dont laff. but i just dont wanna have to sew mini undies OMG or sculpt rudie bits. sculpted kickers will work just fine i fink bit o paint and waalaa no xrated parts. hmmmmmm was gonna clue some lace on and seal it so it textures threw will work ok i hope hope wee beast is coming along well my eyes are itching to see it so bad you have no idea... anyhow back to dusty sanding...........bbl with coffee

Not laughing - I was thinking to sculpt some undies on my bjd if I ever get that far - I quite like the idea of inprinting lace in clay
I just put the horns on my beast. Now I need to decide whether to take the fingers off and bake him then place him on the leaf then sculpt fingers or finish him on the leaf then bake I think the first sounds better
Did you see his last blog entry Blue it does need a fig leaf. Despite the fact that he is treating us to his knowledge it doesn't take the magic out of it and his final pictures are still mind blowingly awesome
How is the head sculpting coming along Donna
I do hope that Ausie comes out of it unscathed that it blows itself out before it hits the land- scary
Wonder if Lindiloo, Bll and Anubis has sculpted anything new

Clay undies is a great idea, I was going to do that with the marionettes too. Katherine Dewey puts clay and lace thru' the pasta machine together or rolls over lace on top of clay and it looks extremely effective. I'm done with sanding for now, decided he needs a bigger tummy teehee, then on with the arms... You're bad Blue.. I hadn't thought about flicking his head...LOL, great idea tho'... Mike was concerned I would use it as a voodoo doll Aaaah Mark Dennis.. I had forgotten about his blog, thanks for the reminder, I raced over to his place and came back... He is brilliant for sure. I see what you mean about how he endows his sculpts, pants on now anyway... Marina of Enchanted dolls has to be the most out-there tho', she's a brilliant artist as well, but I don't know how she sculpts those private bits on her girls..panties please!! Anyway off to make a fatter belly... Good luck with lil beasties hands Fantail, sounds close to finish now.. ;D

LOL flick his bobble head- now that's a funny line better do his belly before he gets back and asks you to make adjustments as long as it won't cause you any trouble for you later Thank you Donna I made his neck a bit wider as I was worried it might not hold up The tin foil must have been to close to him and his one cheek and shoulder is a bit darker but since I will sculpt the hands on Friday I can sand it a bit and add a thin layer of clay I will also paint his horns as the are more yellow Guess I should go take a photo
not even close to finish I will need to sort out his base and paint and his hairdo but its nice to know his is not going to crumble to pieces now that he is baked
38 pages and proud of it though we are making it hard for ourselves to refer back to info

you can't see the sun burn look on his cheek and brow so much cause its partially in the shade here and on the other side but you can see how dark the horns is now. He seems a bit scary with his horns at the moment. Hopefully hair will soften his look

;D Thanks for sharing your lil beastie ;D Oh wow, he is adorable...I absolutely love his horns, very very well done... and his cute expression and little teeth... Fantastic work Fantail... I think I'll have to bake again now I've added the belly, coz I need to put the arms across and I'm squishing places... baking always makes me nervous, things can move.. so I might take a photo. I might do long sleeves so I don't have to do so much detail, like muscles, hair and tattoos, cop-out I know.. Well, I'm pleased to see little beastie.. How are your ankles Blue...?

to top the day off i decided i needed to do something different so made up a wee batch of eyes ( just cause i love self torture) will deal with them tomorrow tho to tired today.

LOL at your description of my bobble-head Blue... yep we have to have fun with it, gets you through the head-butting-table times I'll bet your BJD is coming along beautifully. Oh yeah, 'eyes'... I forgot I'm going to have to make eyes too.. hope your eyes come out well. Btw, did you end up getting the resin? I haven't been to the hardware stores here lately... but I can go have a look if you haven't found it yet. I'm just going to do a couple more things on my piece before I bake tomorrow...

to much sanding and looking down tight as hurt my neck today im as stiff as an old bar of fimo lmao ouch it will make the day interesting anyhow
the eyes i did yesterday arent round enough to fit.........farrrrrrrrr out I squished them down to much.BLAST !!!
I might just finish them anyhow for practice sakes then chuckim in the bin or maybe glue them onto something lmao did some with nailhead and some with indented iris. was having a look at the domed nailheads they would be perfect to paint inside off but they all had spikes on them. groan
i fink i just needs to rtv mould a strip of them. the bjd eyes wont need to be baked so easier to work on tho anyhow.
anyhow will go apply some brew to neck and hope to limber up somewhat.
have a fabulous day ahead youz

quote *I'm as stiff as an old bar of fimo* LOL, now thats 'stiff'... Hope you can relax that tension ASAP it is soooo annoying.. I do it to myself quite often..gotta remember to keep moving around.. Eyes are annoying too, hopefully you can put them to good use for other projects. I'm going to use iris sheet this time I printed on photo paper, last time I used plain paper. I have ordered transparent film but it hasn't arrived yet, but if it comes today I'll try that too... never ending experiments. Well flicky-booble-head had his belly baked this morning, so I'll shape the arms up today... I'm making everyone I see cross their arms so I can study them, and mike is getting annoyed coz I stare at him studying his features... Lol. Have fun, I'll have a pic for you soonish...

LOL @ old bar of fimo Hope your neck is limber now I colour photo copied the eyes at the library so that I could get thin paper cause they are printed on glossy but it does cost a bit and then you still have to edit the colour yourself Eye torture - sound as horrendous as making realistic looking eyes Hehe I thought of getting a darkish room and shining a wee light under the beast's chin so you can see what I mean

Do it Fantail !!... put a torch under his chin and show us.. hehe ;D
Your girl is beautiful Blue, very pretty indeed. Well done, You !!!! She does have a nostalgic air about her, I'd agree with Fantail on Lucy, or maybe Janey or Penny. I think she would suit a more old-fashioned name. She really is gorgeous...
I had a bit of difficulty getting the arms to cross how I wanted them to. I had to bake a thicker clay armature so I will be able to shape them better. Well... its moved very slightly and the wrist is sitting somewhat.. ahem...'girly' if you understand. Mike will not be impressed... LOL... rugged westie bloke that he is...LOL I really am having fun with this... ;D
