I know you will have no trouble with the eyes maybe you can take a photo of him with your cell, if he is requesting things he has to put up with a photo shoot so that you can do him justice

Update pic gees this is a really bad pic sorry. Still needs more sanding before the final fill god........i actually had to leave the studio for a bit today i had enough sanding . will do more tomorrow. and the knees are ugly as sin but they do lock well when standing otherwise they have a tendency to flick and bend with the tension or twist around . i screwed over the double shoulders to so have just added the arms on the the *was second joint. hmmmm I cannot get her to sit alone unsupported its ok with something behind her or an arm to hold the weight. i still have the child to do after this but in all honesty i can soooooooooo see the advantages of making these in paper clay. As for storky yes she is busy with photography comps and custom jobs etc so we can forgive her for not musing in clay at the moment. But its all about passion and that is where hers is at the moment. but little popcorn is insanely small. full kudos Cant wait to see pics Donna and tails to grin and yes where is that anubis...she is missing in action.... its been ages Attachments:

Oh Blue she is very beautiful - I never considered the weight of the clay- I was wondering if mesh would help make it strong and lighter Gordon and Harris sells it but it is so very expensive just to experiment with I love her with blond hair
I do hope our Anubis is well

Thanks so much Tails it means a lot. Yer at 15 inch she is hollow but still she weights a pound worth of clay . I just weighed my two small obitzu bjd one is 11 inch other is 8 inch and together they in resin weight under 200 gm I imagine air dry clay lighter once dryed to. hmmm so in resin there is hope at least. I still cannot fit her to sit unaided tho. If you can find a way to design her backside and thighs so she sits flat it would sit alone fine unaided. getting the thigh balls to sit high enough up the front also and have the back flush etc just a matter of hitting the right recipe and fit. and yes that mesh isn't it beautiful especially the copper I wish i had a need for it. scrumptious stuff. sigh fine tuning the face now ive had ENOUGH sanding have fixed up the eyelids somewhat. the nose is sitting far to low .... i dont wanna have to chop it off and fix the tip but its just gonna keep looking at me till i do so shall do everything else but till the bitter end.....lmao

Oh WOW!!! She is amazing... very attractive. I think her knee joining is very well done and I know how fussy you were on a particular look. I think you sussed it with them, no big ball, no cricket knee (as you call it).. good clean lines.. well done. You did it!!! I so knew you could.. Fantail next... and then me (in about 3 years lol ) I STILL haven't made any eyes, for goodness sake... and the head looks like cr@p at the moment LOL, but it'll get better. Mike usually falls asleep on the couch about now... I'll snap some angles with my cell then...hehehe... 41 pages and 4775 views...go us!!!!

I have no idea how I'll tackle the body let alone if I know enough of how to make the joints work but at the same time I have something in mind and I want to try it before looking at the million and one ways of doing it Hope you figure out how to make her sit , dolly really needs to start behaving now - I like her face the way she is but I know that you have an expectation and until it is met she will bother you
LOL Donna, get him while he is sleeping

I hope she comes together quickly for you, you're so close with her now.. I'm packing in for the night now... I'm getting the neck thing... The second head got worse not better.. it was waay big and was just 'wrong'. So I've just made a third start, and its just a barrel of clay that I'll have to bake first for stability to work from.. and I made some eyes, I'll do a bake tomorrow... and it was too dark to take photo's of the snorer.. the flash would wake him... 'night...

LOL Bll, no offence taken, I found it highly amusing.. ;D appearance is low on his priority so he's ideal to make a caricature of.. Blue, you were right about time taken on research, gathering supplies etc.. its not an art to master in a few months is it ? I realised I need more help with sculpting faces. Books are great but you don't see the process, so I watched a series of tutorials this morning on the net which was very helpful.. www.youtube.com/watch?v=xo4COOhPk3k&feature=relatedI hope you all enjoy this gorgeous day.. ;D

yer we are hunters and gatherers of a different bread that's for sure. lmao youd be surprised what one can do with a broken mantool or4 kitchen utensil .
thank GOD for the tube aren't those tuts great i found them helpful to just to SEE things happening. jsut watching the processes etc i find it so fascinating watching people sculpt.
One way i found helpful was to make the head armature exactly like a skull then build up the face upon it. not that ive perfected that yet either lmao
I have yet to meet an instant Michelangelo in this game thats for sure. we all have our own learning curves.... but it all helps build the passion and drive etc.
Your doing just fabulously tho doll huge pat on the back.
i have sleeping cat buddy sprawled on the table amongst the beads which he already killed and kicked everywhere. darn animal makes more mess than i do lmao

Thank you Blue... One thing I saw was that the artists are quite 'forceful' with moving the clay around ( probably confidence) where I was scratching around and fiddling so I'll try to be more precise. I think I'll watch the series all the way through when I can, seeing sculpting in action is definitely helpful. I had a quick look at their website which looks amazing, so if anyones interested: www.creagers.com/You confirmed my thinking... A rough scull shape would be ideal as an armature, Mark Dennis seems to do this... As usual I've made things harder, this can't apply with the bobble as it has to be hollow... the only tut (not very detailed) said to grind the hollow after baking but I don't want to... Anyway thinking out loud really.. Buddy is so adorable he could get away with anything...I've seen him kiss up to you, cheeky boy... I have 3 very naughty kiss-ups too, smooch around my hands when I'm trying to sculpt and scatter my tools.. ;D

I wouldn't grind it afterward either like you I would've made a barrel first so that you already have the place where the spring goes
Awe such sweet naughty kitties

;D Hey Fantail..
I'm happy to hear you would have done the same, thats what I did.
I also tried out the tip from Tony on Ooak G about putting straight into the freezer from the oven ( I let it rest for 5-10 mins) also the eyes (straight from the oven) coz I wanted to get onto them. No adverse affects.. no moonies.. although I've noticed I havent had any with this s.sculpey/living doll mix.
I was sad to see one of my bottles of the resin had leaked out to almost nothing..don't know why.. so I only made up one pair of eyes. They had to work out so NO bubbles. I hit them with the embossing gun (low powered heat gun) and all the tiny bubbles disappeared, one rose up so I zapped them again and it popped. I held it up high.
So two experiments for me today, good results from both.
Btw the eyes look really good.. at least I seem to have mastered that side of it..lol. ;D

QUOTE:.. at least I seem to have mastered that side of it.. Please disregard this part of my message, because I have since moved the tile with eyes on, they slid off to the floor dome side DOWN... After having a tantrum and cursing myself for being so careless, I have managed to scrape up a tiny bit more resin and cover them again... no dome now though.... all isn't lost but geez I get so annoyed with myself.... rant over... skulking off....

Ugh Don't you just hate it when that happens just as you were running out of it too Don't blame you for feeling upset. As soon as you have some more resin you won't have trouble making some more perfect eyes.

Hellooo... Thank you for caring, I modified my previous post 'coz obviously they had fallen dome DOWN and I had put 'UP'... I wish... Anyway they are okay ... These are the best shots I could get due to their size, they have nice tones in RL... brighter green than his own eyes but effective. and they are still slightly domed but just all over now... Don't the Bjd vids make it look effortless... that was great to watch thank you.. ;D

Ha I did exactly the same thing, it's impossible to go to one link without veering off to many others... lotsa fun though... ;D I'm going to be boring about eyes again... The eyes I made were still tacky so I suspect I got the ratio wrong in my haste to fix the damage. I've mixed a tiny amount more and added a lens, so fingers crossed that it works. Fantail you might be interested that I was able to add the lens and it didn't run over.. I can't do too much until the eyes dry but I'll start to pack out the barrel head a bit... I managed to sneak some fuzzy shots of snoring Mr, he couldn't believe the cheek....hehe.. Have a great weekend, would love to hear what you're up to if you get a chance... ;D
