That's quite a compliment for your man to take his mini-me-bobble-head to work Good on you for having a go Donna Started on the torso and I hope to bake the head tomorrow Still have to figure out the thigh and arm before I can before I can make the opposites limbs, the hands and feet

He was telling them about it..also I packed it in a box and 'suggested' he might like to show them...LOL and he's glad its over coz he said he was sick of me staring at him all the time..hehe.. Fantail..please note that I said I would try a 'jointed' doll..not 'Ball-jointed' .... heck a Bjd for me at the mo would definitely become a UFO or dodgy box dweller.... Oooh torso and head ready for baking yahoo... hoping for progress pics... Anyway I'm supposed to be sorting photos..

Whats the difference? Your on your way towards sculpting a bjd Torso still needs loads of work and the head needs to be baked cause I've had enough of resculpting the nose since I have squished it gazillions of times Goodie - rubs hands together -photos

Morning lufflies... phewwwwwwwwww what a weekend. now the tidy up of the carnage begins. Congratulations Donna on a job well done. shall hop on the spot and wait patiently for pics Tails well done girl its no mean feat thats for sure. i bet your doing just magically with it its gonna be wonderful GRIN as for eyes......... well the porcelain beads i had on order weren't available after all WAAAAAAAAA and the glass beads............... lets just say ........it aint my time for buying beads of specific sizes right now....lmao but have practiced on some glass will grab some thinner today and have another go, then bake them ... really just need to know if it will tolerate raw clay and sculpting scrapings once its baked without going murky.. the glass eye lens supplier has not gotten back to me either. what is wrong with people these days............ you can get cameo lens which are curved underneath slightly would be perfect to cap painted beads. hmmmmmmmmm but ill have to wait for her or write again. right............. bbl

yup......... i got them off ebay last week and it took almost a week to tell me oh sorry not now available. RARRRRRRRRR who would have thought common white round glass beads would be hard to grab hold of.
the porcelain beads looked more creamy but might have come threw well. the glass had a dash of summer white ( crisp with that hint of grey blue) i know you cant pick the paint off with your fingernail when its baked but i just dont know if it would live out raw clay against it so shall see. its worth a shot the lens's i painted all over my sculpting board held up ok but...... well we shall see.
anyhow....... shall throw myself into some mischief and see what happens before lunchtime.
do try and be good..........

btw tails QUOTE ***I have squished it gazillions of times**** made me ROFLMFAO because i have chopped it off and resculpted it a gazillion times*** seams to be my recurring nightmare muhahahaha
not many beads out there... in the plane white variety of various sizes. i did get some *ugly fake glass pearls * which they lady said to me solemn oath they are ugly plastic plate over plane glass bead..................so some are in the oven incinerating just to see if they are true and not hard as resin which i think they look to be. if so there they are all sizes and cheap as say $3 for a string in all sizes. might just do the trick. spotlight .........urg. have to admit there seamed to be more prices on things this time tho.
anyhow best check kitchen before i blow something up

OMG
Donna.............. bobble head is AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG i cannot believe he is only 14 cm high. and what a fantastic likeness you have captured him beautifully WELL DONE YOU !! !! !!! what a natural... gees he is so very cool ........I cant stop looking. the folds in his shirt and detailing on his pants and those red bands are smashing lady smashing. His face is really well done and i LOVE the detailing of the hair and beard that is neat as and even a little earing..
Will the real Mike please stand up ; )
The real versions not to shabby for a westie male either WINK !
well done you what a brilliant job ***YOU ROCK *** I really do hope you are as happy as a clam with this piece it is SUPER Fantastic !!!...
****************************
as for hideous fake pearl experimentation wellllll i couldn't kill them in them oven i even blasted them at 200 for 30 and they stayed intact........ so i smashed the begeebies outta them with a hammer to see how they were inside. and yes they are glass and yes now i have shards everywhere and yes they are perfectly suitable. so i guess ill soak a bunch in a jar with something toxic to get the granny gleem off and give the paint a try. ROUND * DING DING DING !
***side note. skinks stuck to double sided foam tape can be removed if said tape is smothered in natural oils. then gently doctor doolittle with your tools to get them off and free them. ( please dont ask me how it got onto said tape) also please save any deceased monarch butterflys you find as the wings are highly valuable even if only one is good,,,, for live butterfly wing repair. i AM WILLING TO COVER ALL COSTS TO OBTAIN. sorry i know its a little grotty but it means they get a second chance and wont starve to death. they live out their lives with repaired wings perfectly.

Thank you Blue, your opinion means a lot so thanks for the compliments. I'll have to bring it with me when I next visit coz it really is better in RL.. finer detailed than the photos. On with the next two soon, I'll do both at the same time... So was that your second to last..or last.. eye experiment... hehe. LOL at smashing with a hammer, I'm glad I'm not the only one who experiments in that way... I can't believe that white glass beads aren't easy to find!!! Maybe you should go to Kumeu and see the people at Smashing Glass, they might be able to make them for you... I will keep the wings in mind.. I have a tiny ginger 'angel' who is murderous to anything that moves, she damages monarchs regularly ... do you offer wing repair if they are delivered?

see... had to sneak in and have another lookie............ he really is wicked.
and anything named *smashing glass* has instant appeal. forget the Illuminati i think i was born in Genghis khans bloodline smashing, slashing, slicing and dicing where most hands would delicately tread lmao
as for the butterfly's. its the time of year for the carnage to start, unfortunately. Butterfly and moth massacre are common with our four paw house dwellers ( they only doing whats natural for them). I have only done a few repairs but am geared up for more. I think i have three pairs left now so at least there is some in the ready. have to admit it gives me the begeebies still but if you practice a few times *you can do it* any spare wings can go to the monarch house they have one person there willing to attempt the odd repair also. its one of those things that you only have one shot at. its not hard its just a matter of giving it a go with a gentle hand and all is set... this time of year the monarchs are mostly the young so they are fast. the oldies that over winter are slower an have more chance of being caught and played with. but if you do find one and you cant give it new wings you can always keep it inside and hand care for it... it will live out its days.flowers and nectar etc ( honey and water) yer i know they are onlyyyyyyyyy butterflys BUT life is life

:)Thank you Fantail, your opinion is important to me too. If you two think I did good - then I'm happy ;D Blue has an article on her website about repairing the wings, I studied it but am nervous to try myself. I usually place them high up on a flowering vine and hope for the best for them... Oh I have no project on the go now... secretly I don't really like doing armature so it puts me off starting Thanks again for your lovely comments.. big smile on my dial... ;D

Blue are you still annihilating glass beads? I found some white glass beads on TM, but I wasn't sure what size you were after..
Fantail I had your teeny bear out today and tried to make a 'baby' shape of the same size... LOL well.. all I can say is I don't know how you make things THAT tiny..
Talk soon..

The teds are easy basic shapes and the baby is probably twice as big I don't have an eye for sizes but prefer small scale then large

***The blood donation banks were full by lunchtime. Fantastic stuff . !
Donna - Tails do you have glass paints and thinner ? I have enough to give you some if you dont. I have been using small brush and pin to paint it is quite thick paint more like printers ink. it is nice dry looks like thick glossy oils.
you can layer up the gloss to make a lens with it also it just takes a while as you have to let this stuff dry out properly ( 24 hours) before layers. also have to let it dry 24 hours before baking so if this works it will just be done in big batches id say.
as of yet still have to experiment with them in clay. and re-baking post cure testing etc.
found a company that make mini glass lens but they have flat bottoms so are no good for the glass beads the cameo lens they dont make small enough for us.
ok off to see the wizard
