Just nicked my finger with the scalpel Felt more like I just bumped my finger tip but I looked at the skin standing funny and then a bead of blood. Not a big cut but on the forefinger means it's inconvenient

Wow that's d beautiful and a little weird specially the shoe feet Guess a few straps and some coloured paint and you can make open-toed shoes
I've taped up my finger. It does help till I'm finished and can swap it for a plaster off to look for that puppet link you posted several pages ago ;D

And those hands are quite well sculpted Have a great weekend Blue where is this wizard
Donna I had a look at those puppets and was also wondering if considered black or white (or striped) stockings for the elbows just to cover part of the limbs From the wrist to half way up the upper arm but then the ribbons do look good too

Helloooo.. mischief indeed.. scalpel cuts to the finger.. Beads holding up shelves.. typical kiwi girl aren't you..lol. Great storage. Yes I've looked at that puppet site quite a few times now, I'm intrigued at her simple solutions, but so very effective. I've also seen that bead maker thingy before too... don't the beadmakers have a tool to make perfectly round beads too... Wheres Bll... BLL!!!! ... she might know. That Bjd is very different..very imaginative. I love the cut-out work thats superb. And the eyes are looking great Blue.. I'll have to have a go at painting some again soon. I might do some more clothing work on the figures tonight...but it's quite dark with the rain.

Yer right... Dragonworks and Patricia Cozzo.. EXQUISITE. Thank you so much for those links, its so inspiring to see such beautiful work. I can only dream of ever being able to accomplish work so wonderful. I'll be drooling over their work for some time. I'm just squishing around with this clay, but while its spongy to use - I do love its flexibility, the trolls leaf is very strong but can be bent and same with the shorts and boots on mini-mike. My Dukit is on its way, yay, cant wait to try it. I'm using s.sculpey and living doll for the bodies, so much better than ss alone. However it did darken on second bake (ss I'm thinking) What is living doll like alone? I would like to use it for the girl I want to make, and I want her to be pale. Tia for your thoughts Jesse has very strong views on how he wants his mini-me to be dressed low rider skinny jeans (not so easy to get looking ok) acid green hoody and multi coloured high top shoes... grief, I'm glad I dont have a daughter!!!! Back to squishing spongy clay into clothing... ;D

Flexable sounds interesting your trolls leaf looks so real Maybe that was the way to go for the mini -beasts leaf
yup its the SS that darkens with each bake I think Living Doll is nice to work with but I mix a little Cernit with for strength
Haha you'll know what to expect then if you ever have to do a commissioned piece

Oh ok... I don't have any cernit...is it not such a strong clay on its own. I guess I could make something small out of it first. I've noticed most of the bjds are of woman figures. Apart from the commercial male bjd there doesnt seem to be many clay artists doing male figures... so if you are interested in making a mate for your girls... Marina has done it well.. ;D www.enchanteddoll.com/galleries.html

I think Living doll is about as strong as SS on its a tad of cernit makes a difference -I'll Check to see What ratio I used but I think it was something like one sixth just for a little added strength

Donna, I wouldn't worry about dukit getting old. lasts forever, doesn't dry out like fimo Yep there are a few bead rollers out there. I haven't tried any tho.

Hey everyone. Well my Dukit arrived yesterday, it wasn't date stamped but it feels soft and pliable through the wrapping. Will have to think of something to make with it now. Spent yesterday making iris's on the computer with Damien. Well he did the techo stuff.. I just 'directed' lol. He made some gorgeous eyes, so lifelike but as I suspected they lost all the detail once reduced to like 6mm.. He has made one which is fine, just needs some tweaking Enjoy your day...xx

If Dukit is soft its fresh yes its hard to keep the detail when they get small but dabs of metallic paint can bring them back Can't wait to see the eyes you make from them and enjoy the Dukit This guy says that Living doll light is a bit stronger then SS www.avalonsculpture.blogspot.com/I like the eye he made but I do think the resin you found is clearer

'morning Fantail, PM'd you... I was reading his blog this morning, hes going to be interesting to follow with his experiments etc. I'm eagerly awaiting his 'water-slide' method for lens sheet... sounds cool... I'm still experimenting with the transparency film, but its tricky and stiff. I wont be trying any other gloss effects, didnt like fimo much.. and anyway why bother.. the resin does exactly what we need.. ;D Heres one of the eyes he made while playing around with effects.. but he didn't like the colour combinations...

Oooooh Prrrreeettttyyyeeeeeee I think I used less detail and more contrast for the little ones to try to have those natural bits but really I don't know how much detail you can retain as they get smaller due to the amount of pixels you have to work with Yeah your on to a good thing there, certainly no need for a different lens material
As for what to do with big eyes have you seen Jill Willich's spoondolls ;D

That was the one I couldn't use coz it lost all the detail when reduced... he made better colours but that was the only one I had to show... He'll use the method for his use... but the one hes working on for me has pretty much no detail what-so-ever just lines I don't think I've seen her spoon dolls, if I have I can't remember... I'll be popping over to have a lookie at those.. ;D ;D
