makes perfect sense to me although i have to admit my printer is possessed. it shall work when it wants and not when i beg. or plead it will stop printing for no apparent reason. i would get a good one ... but that will have to wait till i can find a good one with reasonable cartridges. blah blah
and yes..... go get some clay. your fingers must be itching. lmao besides we are hanging to see more.......... GET CRACKING ! (kiddin)

I know what you mean about printers and the ink costs a fortune I did find it tricky to get the eyes on a photo size so that I can just patch the four photos together and photocopy them because I hate wasted space
Just played with some embossing powders to make a card and it was fun, forgot how much I liked it

oooooooooooooo sounds pretty.
was having a look at those cuttle bug thingies and other machines for embossing and cutting and such likes.GEES they are a small fortune. i found a cutting mat l love of a butterfly but.......... not worth the expense for a frillie really id prefer to spend that cast on clay. the one i loved was a two stamp cutter for monarch quite detailed one for whole shape next for stencil cutout. i wouda bought it if id known someone will one i coulda run half a million bits threw. hmmm watching the vids of them working its just a running pressure plate / press and not that tight at best. how the heck do they even work so well. pressure on two metal plates.....hmmmmmmmmmmm wonder if you could get away with just a bit of downward pressure. oh god someone stop me please.
but man some amazing stuff thats for sure.
sorting out fittings and other bits and pieces today boreing stuff but its keeping the cat amused. he keeps looking quite complex-ed at all the nuts and bolts.lmao i need a new vacuum gauge......groan
have mess to tidy. and doing best to avoid it......tee hee hee

Those embossing presses do seem intriguing. There is a whole new world out there when it comes to card making But Like you said unless you intend to make millions its not high on the list and if you knew someone with the press ... The heat gun makes a difference, I remember burning the paper when melting the embossing cause I held it to close to the stove hehe.

steps wayyyyyyyyyyy back from tails and her heat gun.... why is it with heat guns one is forever tempted to give it just one last extra close blast. like tempting fate. then you do burn it to a crispy kritter you tell yourself off cause you darn well knew that was gonna go down.

yes lmao. but i do NOT want to get sucked into the vortex of cuttlebugs and the likes. i hardly have time to get threw all my clay tasks for heavens sakes.............but i would love the monarch ..oh dream on. there are a few smaller hand held paper punches around tho and ummmmm they do look easy and cute. grabbed this bjd eye pic. its for a set of DIY bjd eye balls. i always thought they were really con-caved inside. these are flat. hmmm they look fine painted up abet not detailed . hmmm. waiting on final quote from China for glass lens.....oh goodie. ;D Hello
My HP printer is not the best you can get but it does work fine, I bought it from Noel Leemings $87. with $20. cash back so for $67 & I buy my cartridges off TM Xlarge size 1 colour + 1 black for less than 1 small anywhere else... ;D
I finally finished those shoes and I can see why I conveniently forgot them... that boy!!!! You'll see what I mean...
*this is a recording... I'm up to the hands now...
Nice eyes... but too ordinary for us... you make heaps better eyes than that...
Heat guns.. thats why I bought the lower powered embossing gun... When I made my first eyes I tried the angelina film and Mike offered to use his high-powered gun.. well a tiny charred ring of film was all that remained...
Blue are you finding trouble again... Fantail... your cards sound like fun... Bll... I ran out of black so I used my dukit, I can see why you like it its very nice to use, I wish I had it before I started these pieces. Anubis... we miss you...

Hey donna .......glad you got the boots done. and yes there is a recording box at the door. Bll put it there pre recorded message number 3 is *Im still on the.......... message 13 is * dont talk im busy making eyes. and yes a long time ago in a time before eye experiments there were wing experiments. I reckon it takes .0003 of a second for angelin film to cremate itself in really hot air. but it is such pretty stuff..oh sigh my vacuum pump arrived today to. YESSSSSSSSSSS BABYYYYYYYY silicone here we come oh yes we do so get readyyyyyyyyyyy hold ya witches britches on........... funny thing is .....i cant test it..! running power and oil testing only for now ..... i already dedicated my pressure pot lit to pressure caste till my perspex arrive for the vacuum chamber lid...... and i need a new screw for the valve cause the vacuums got a diffy sized fitting. hmmm so another task down and another step closer....... yaaa Tails did you mug your postie today? where are you beady Bll ? and what are you upto? anubis is busy kickin pixie butt ; ) chuck a bit of rain water down her rabbit hole and she might pop up and yer those resin eyes are kinda bland a the more i look at them the more i dont like them. i think we put way more life into ours thats for sure. but looking at them it would not be to hard to rout out the top of a glass bead like that and chuck in the glass lens. it wouldn't need to be deep just level and say .05 - 1 ml deep just a small ridge to sit and be a paint guide or paper guide also. hmm ponder and ponder. it would help hold up the envirotex to ? how did your embossing end up tails? do you use a stencil ? cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160548280538&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITmy dream on butterfly........ it stamps two bits of paper you just glue them together . its metal template like cuttlebug thingies this one is a double punch. im not quite sure how youd fit it in perfectly not sure how it really works much cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130481443818&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:ITnot as nice tho to be honest the first one is gorgeous. im sure something like a firm rubber roller would push paper threw it ? i have no clue really tho anyhows..................am stalling. bbl

I'm outa my league with those punches things, but I know Martha Stewart does a double one too, I've seen them on TM.. I bought a wooden laser cut monarch off TM too, only coz I thought it was lovely. I did see Lisa Pavelka on TV once where she was using those small punches on thin baked clay. After I had posted about the bland eyes I thought I had been rude to be so blunt... bit too honest sometimes... I'm no expert on eyes yet either... but the experimental eyes where I tried the resin.. I dented them with the end of a small aerial which worked well coz it had a ridge as well as the hollow but I found the print had to have a tiny fold to fit into the hollow... SOOOO... the flat ones in that picture with the slight ridge would be PERFECT... now to work out how to get that flat ridge...

have fun with the hands I decided to bake cause I was having trouble with the thumb I can always trim it and fix it up
The magnification of the glass lens might give it depth so maybe it doesn't to be concaved just indented , if you are using the resin the concave really does add dimension using the glue it softend the paper and then pressing it in the middle with something rounded let it fit without folding
Don't forget Lindiloo we miss you toooo

No stencil I used a rubber stamp that I inked then stamped and poured the embossing powder over then heated it and it gives it a raised surface Funny thing is afterward I found my mom's butterfly stamp and I did the same on tissue paper its so thin the ink went through and then I poured the powder on the other side and a little of the embossing powder stuck and so it looks interesting and I didn't burn the paper - pitty the stamp is not bigger I tried to wash away the paper but its too delicate
I will send you one of my trials in the post this weekend if I get near the post office
No post for me today its always been slow on this side of town

hmmmmmmm Intressssssssssting stuff ladies interesting. plenty of food for thought GRIN Donna dearest honesty is good so please do not worry and not to harsh at all ok . ( with no disrespect to any other artist---they are bland eyes ) id hate to make eyes and have people tell me yes they are great only to turn around and find they actually SUX. im tuff i can take it. besides all this eye banter bashing ideas back and forth is fantastic it is fine tuning ideas and sharing what works with different mediums and styles. it is priceless help i thank you from the bottom of my blue leather boots Tails your right i think the concave just magnifies far to much ( at the depth i did anyhow) i think just the flat routed bead and resin and glass lens will do the trick nicely you can get diamond burs shaped like a barrel with a flat end. easy as to rout out the whole top. the only trickery is having good grippers so the bead wont fly off like a screaming missile and making sure you do this job outside and wear a mask and safety glasses cause you dont want glass dust in your eyes or lungs.. interesting about the stamps........ you know i have a magnificently detailed huge monarch rubber stamp. hmmmmmm and hmmmm and big wings.........and and and. hmmmmm maybe we should all get together again soon and have a good play with some thingies.

It would be a lot less stressful if we were the type to buy readymade eyes and be content (with bland..hehe) seriously though those blanks are perfect and you could fancy-up the iris I guess.
Not usually known for my safety when working.. Mike hid all my power tools when he caught me cutting a small wooden shape with a jigsaw while holding it in my hand... and I've been known to put two chairs atop to paint..( only because he hides the ladders too) and he snapped me again when I was falling off.. LOL LOL.. but I will take your advice on this one... honest.
Fantail I hope your hands went well.. I made 2 pairs of quite good hands but the wire and clay armature on J wasn't correct so they were squished and I've altered the armature ready to start again... D should be ok but its too dark now so I'll have another go tomorrow.
And yes I think it would be wonderful to get together again real soon.. oh yes!!! ;D

Hand needs work, but that's nothing new and the loop is a bit deep, hope you get the armature right Using a stencil sounds like a good idea. You can first have a look at my trial tissue butterfly , see if it's suitable It would be nice to visit but its going to be a bit busy for me for a while - several birthdays coming up over the next few weeks me thinks you just want banana cake (kidding) ;D

Fantail we'll wait until you're not busy... (and I did ask for banana cake & choccy icing in the last post but I edited it... ;D)
I'd love to see your card...

Oh no.. sorry to hear you're sick Bll, hope you're feeling better very soon. Have a nice restful day... if you feel a bit better later maybe you could have a play with some of your clay, that'll make you feel good. There are some beautiful beads and pendants just waiting for you to not be so busy... ;D Well I'm hoping I'll get better at hands once I've made a few hundred... or I'll just make everything with crossed arms... I made loops covered in clay at the bottom of the arms thinking it would be easier. I won't do that again... I'll keep it up in between other jobs today.. they'll be okay..nearly there.. Off to hurry up school kid...
