oh but yes it is Donna its as interesting as heck. cant wait to see pics Im all in for clay clothing / draping etc so its exciting to see the diffy textures Tails..... a 4 part tail? excuse me while i say WOW you are so definatly on bjd cat tail duty lady. I am off to topmark to find silicones that have a longer setting time. talk about racing like a 6 minute blue devil. I need to take more time / work slower. I have an air bubble issue that will not leave me so i need that time frame way larger. hmmmmmm nice day for a hoon down the motorway with the stereo at ear bleeding levels again.. GRIN bad girl very bad girl bbl with more trouble..... but while im gone could someone put on a fresh pot of caffine please.

I couldn't get it more uniform, it was too fiddly.. Now I just have to make it into some tiny shoes etc.. Speaking of clay clothing... I like it that Nicole West makes 80-90% of her sculpts clothing with clay.. and beautifully too, as does Katherine Dewey. I only would on certain pieces I think. Oh have fun at topmark Blue.. kid in a candy shop.. 6min time frame was way too impossible to work within. Jointed fluffy tiny cat tails.. WT..

Oh Donna it looks fantastic and quite natural Its not a jointed tail Hehe its just four parts cause its two pieces for the tail and two for the tail tip to sew together I merged the parts for each so now its just one each though you loose a bit of the shape ugh the cream cats body and limbs are all wrong so pattern for this fur, it will need to be changed All in the name of experimenting Have fun Blue

well its official......I LOVE TOPMARK got more of the same but have a couple of *Retarders that will double the kill time..... phewwwwwwwwwww soem retarders for the silicon paints and for thickeners so i can brush on some moulds. hmmmm trouble trouble. easy cast in bulk.gulp blah blah.. . man i love that place. the moths in my wallet do NOT. oh well. into work then i guess yaa Donna your clay in magnificent. it looks so natural. brilliant. Tails. sorry for the teasing honey I just cant help myself ; ) what you lot upto now?

thanks you two.. Yay for retarder... that'll make a hard task a little easier. BOL with it all now fantail it would be brilliant if there was a velvet fabric with a longer than usual pile, don't 'spose there is though. I know most of the fur fabrics have quite a thick backing which would make it extremely difficult on your scale. Lucky you have tiny hands, hope you get it sorted soon. I should be outside painting today, this weather is a blessing for Autumn, and the cupboards are bare.. I've been lining up leopard skin on minute heel, glue poised.. almost ready... hehe. I also looked for book again.. I think I might need to check with neighbour that she has actually returned it..!! dunno...

"Women and cats do as they please. Men and dogs should just accept this and get on with things." lmao sorry not very PC once again my head is so full of information i can hardly think sideways. Price is such a hard hard thing to sort out. I find that and finding doll names the hardest of things honestly. I never charge much I feel anyhow but these materials. are very expensive in comparison to clay. gasp. the market here in little old nz is so small i just hope to get enough sales of them to cover costs anything else is a bonus the commercial bjd are so expensive but i wont make mine so they will be small in comparison but. we have to start somewhere a I was advised to sell one on ebay to get a good feel for their value. and with the views etc i guess it is a good way to feel things out. sigh. oh sigh. so id best get to tidy up in the studio again as i have several experiments about the place in various stages oops. and get cracking. no more stalling on it But Donna..... that print is in mini? WOW id thought it would have been a big ol sheet of clay but its for mini shoes O M G wicked.....WICKED>! Tails. i do have more mini fur here youll have to raid it when your over next. some of it has softer backing some stretchy some not some fine paw swadey stuffs etc. some of it frays like a B yikes. back to it for me. Latters gators

I have no idea about prices but you do have the right to do a little more then get your money back Your work is beautiful I think having one item over priced on your table does help people think its worth paying for your other work Yip names are tough when I write I story I often pick a simple name that I can replace when I have something more suitable Here are a couple of names Lucy (lucyloo) , Valerie, Eliza, Chantelle, Desiree
Sounds like treasure trove of fabric that you can dive into I'm getting there now slowly I have some mini fur that I'd still love to use- just haven't had the opportunity but soon I will need to get back into sculpting for my sanity sake

yer your right. having a price variation does seam to help somewhat. its a tricky thing i guess for all of us. and names.....omg why is that so hard. some things just have their own name and personality from teh get go but others ....remain tricky. but yer all this chemistry playing and mould talk....... its all good and a means to reproduction of other things but. still my heart yearns to stretch my fingers threw the clay. playing in all directions is necessary for the most part and experimenting in aid of moving forward with independent things but STILL the clay calls...it screams and claws till it gets its way... there is NO escape my friend. We are willingly Addicted

I'm back now, no longer old Mother Hubbard, and I put the clay on the heels before I left.. The spots should probably have been smaller really, I didnt take the stretching into account, but I'm not making another leopard sheet...
If I bought a doll that had a name I would probably re-name it anyway... but I suppose they are named to identify them and the maker Aye?
I hope you get your kittys finished soon so we can see them. Your beautiful BJD and little beastie and cocoon baby must be looking at you.. ( to use Anubis' phrase)
and YES Cats and Woman can do as they please... HEHEHE
Pricing must be every artists worse nightmare really... You know what its worth but you want to reach all markets and be affordable to everyone... very, very hard....
and my boys are moaning coz they are still headless..."how come you're making shoes Mum when we've got no heads"

Donna I'm sure it will still look great LOL tell your boys you can do as you please and it pleases you to do the shoes first or you can't concentrate enough to sculpt their heads properly headless boys, sculpts looking at me, I need to play with clay this week
one way of choosing the price is to think would I want it to go for less then this and then not price it below that - the more you like them and the more work that goes into them the more you charge and if someone wants it enough they will save up for it On the other hand sometimes you need to sell some work so you can afford more materials good thing you do have the minis to hopefully help you out a bit

LOL fantail...you are so right !!! and yes I will definitely need to be in the right mood to do the faces... but I am looking forward to getting back to them soon.
and you're spot on with the pricing too. I think a base price is definitely a must.. I used to look at my finished work and ask myself what I would be happy to pay for it.
I hope to move on to the top of the shoes tonight.. I don't know how you got them done so quickly Blue, I've been dithering around on how its best to do them..

the silicone test heads. as you can see there are some faults -bubbles and tears etc that matters not at this stage. just testing of different thinggies. but they are so so very soft. i love the gel10 it is beautiful its what they use for prosthetic s Attachments:

OH MY GOSH!!! They are SO beautiful. They are GORGEOUS honestly. The silicone is devine... The sleeping bub looks like she needs a kiss on the cheek, so very realistic... the little boy is so cute, love the eyes... Blue I absolutely love these babies.. you're a genius woman, a brilliant artist.. every experiment, difficulty, head-banging moment has been SO worth it... (hope I got the sex right, just how they look to me, correct me if I'm wrong) So pleased the wax is okay now. I have made a good start on the shoes.. time is a bit tight for me at the moment, but little bits at a time.. enough to keep me sane. Thank you SO much for the photos, made my morning... ;D Thank you for the nice comment Bll, I was remembering your exquisite snowflake bead yesterday.. I really hope you get a chance for more claying, your work is really wonderful.. Back soonish..

aw fanks so very much It means a lot. i know they are just tests and such but i really do like this material it really brings them to life. so very squishy to I just love these little faces i cant wait to make limbs now... with luck today shall have half the limb moulds sorted out. and yer for all the testing and trialing and inventing things it pays off eventually,,, it just takes time. there is method to our experimental madness HAHAHAHHA I cant wait to see your iddy shoes tho.. i know its hard only being able to do some tasks in spits and spats but they will be completed before you know it. dash it when real life gets in the way of clay time. unfair back to sticky blue wax clay...........off i go..........draggin heels....

;D Haha, I think most Mums prefer sleeping babies.. they look so angelic when sleeping... Yes I did play with the shoes some more... now I have to go like the clappers to get done what I was supposed to be doing.. Heres a WIP shot of where I'm up to so far... I have used Dukit except the mid brown spots which is Premo... I am a real convert to Dukit, love it.. The premo is NOT behaving and gets fine cracks when I move it... I'll not buy it again.. When I bend the shoes the top part puckers so I'm not sure how to work that...so still have to attach to stud and shape up yet. The heels look like they're too short, but they're not really coz the gap for the lobe makes up for it... see the studs I made Mike cut in half.. haha.

WOW ! this is so darn cool .......looking and looking and lookingggggggggg the studs look just FAB i tell you fab... man they are small tho omg man that print really was tiny i honest thought it was so much larger. well done you what a cool pair of ear shoes GRIN maybe you could make a pair for one of Tails wee bears ( ducks the slapping) i think those threaded studs are a good idea. they wont slip off at all. look cool to. well done you well done i love dukit to. its got that little bit of flex in it, its a great price to. have to say Donna really great clear photos you must be loving your camera and yer......they always look like angels when sleeping dont they..... devils by day angels by night. i think its the quality of the actual eyes also that makes such a difference. once i get those new eye lens and grind beads and.......and.........and it will help.

Aw thanks Blue, I can now see that I would have changed a few things, but thats always the way isn't it.. I really like the idea of shoe earrings.. thanks to Fantail for showing and Blue to the spikes perfect to build them off... I'll probably make more at a later date.. Actually I thought the photos weren't so good, but it was hammering down with rain at the time... maybe better shots when they're finished. I had another look at the bubs faces... geez they are so gorgeous, sleeping baby is just so kissable.. fantail is gonna love seeing them when she comes in...

Morning lufflies I am still loving those wee shoes Donna and I am still blown away at the clay print. man thats cool. You really did a wonderful job on them. I can really appreciate all the trickery that goes into a super mini piece. I cant wait to see those little suckers in the real. and no i did not make those baby blue eyes they are simple plastic doll eyes but they do photograph nice and bright thats for sure got to go back to topmark ( oh the joy) and pick up some fancy thinner for the silicone paints. BRILLIANT ! so i can at least give the bubs some more realistic mottling etc. then finish up the wax for the moulds today. almost there with them tho almost just ran out of time yesterday. Tails you have 3 more days to touch clay otherwise your fingers will fall off
