The sun is out here but the wind is nasty...
Well after all my setting up for the phone call..my Mother wasn't home, lol so I txt her and will try again later.
Well I've cut a hole to fit the stud into and they're ready for the oven now along with the bobbles head bases and while they're in the oven I'll make up the eyes for them... I've also sanded down my kitchen window for painting so not doing too bad today.
Good luck with your pour Blue, hope you found a sheltered sunny spot, glad you enjoyed your trip to your favourite place.
Great going with the tails Fantail, all the best with the rest.. maybe even if you squish some clay the curse will be lifted and your fingers won't fall off after all...LOL LOL ;D

Well my shoe earrings didnt come out so good after all Actually they look a bit silly... LOL Learning curves... I should have shaped the sole part BEFORE I added the upper part, I wasn't able to do it once they were finished as they kept splitting when I tried to bend them... I baked them anyway but when I tried one on it wasn't really right... I had fun anyway and I might wear them coz they look ok from the front and you don't see them much with my hair. I'll make some more soon and do them right next time.. I hope you had a great day today.

Yes I do still have some, I might pull the top shoe off and remake them - as you say it will be easier now I know what to do. I would rather they looked realistic. Kinda seems like a waste of time really but I suppose thats why people have prototypes The heads are now ready for the faces to start. Did you touch clay Fantail? How did the pour go Blue?

the first try with something is always experimental. second attempt irons out the trickery and by the third youll be able to make them with your eyes closed. lmao maybe baking over a little tinfoil template to hold up their shape. ? just build the shape up and put it under the shoe arch to hold it up when baking. youll work it out regardless. but we just cant know these things till we try. ; ) you did great. the shoes are cool so dont feel disheartened well i ended up having visitors and blocks and stops and never made it to my moulds........ every time i sat down someone was at the door OMG i swear by 9pm i was itching to get to them but by that time my eyes were to tired.. today's another day so with luck. and no more stops......lmao fingers twitching to get the task completed URG lmao

'morning all.
Well I came to the conclusion that a defeatist attitude will do me no favours with this art, so I will remake the shoes. Even though they are fine..they aren't right. Thanks Blue, I will use something to prop the soles in place, maybe bake that for strength to work off.. They'll work.. ;D
I only get annoyed when it doesn't go right first off because I really do have heaps of other things I HAVE to get through at the moment..so it feels like I have wasted time, but as Fantail says its all learning and PC sculpting will be a full-time activity when the other work is finished..
Blue I hope you get a chance to do the pouring today and it all goes really well for you.
Its cold and wintery, yuck... a good day for being inside... Have a great day today... ;D

I absolutely shall do ;D you to and yer its pretty miserable down the hill at the moment but there have been fleeting spells of good sun and no wind what the heck i say. but the cats have already settled in........ which pretty much means the day ahead is toast. and yup its all good learning. even when things dont go right they teach us how to for next time in a backwards sorta a way. youll *Get* the look your after. (( looks over at failed RTV moulds ever so slightly frustrated at not getting that right yet)) see.. its learning at every darn stage lol tin foil really is a godsend tho i have to admit. scrunched up crazy shapes hold all manner of things in place while baking. that and fiberfill. remembering the best teacher is practical experience itself. I think the defeatist does sneak in every now and again... but once we get over it it just makes us more determined keep ya chin up kid you are doing terrifically.

andddddddddddddd
have to admit baking the shaped soles first is a really great idea... the hardest thing i found with those shoes was.....what do you hold without squishing while sculpting / making them ? everything kept spinning around on my earring pin....URG
and also forgot to congratulate you on getting the heads started ready for faces. well done you.

Ahh the head bases are nothing.. just a blob of clay with a hole in the bottom...LOL.. just so I can work the features without squishing and movement... The hard part is yet to come. The mood needs to be right for exact replica - a chat with my muse, belief in a good outcome, all that sorta thing. Mikes face is exact ( no trumpet blowing intended, everyone says so ) so hopefully the boys will go well too... Its all good practice for the future, maybe I could do some for commission when I perfect them.. I'm painting the window surround this morning, was a bit of a task as it was varnished wood now to be painted, so lots of sanding, cough cough!!! I'll clay-play later today though for sure... I still didn't get as far as the eyes so that'll have to be first I guess, so the resin can dry, maybe remake the shoes while I wait.. Hope you're going well with your things... ;D

You did so very well with Mr M's likeness really really impressive
as for windowsills....GROAN well done tho they will look so smashing when your finished.
i have the moulds in wax waiting for pour still but i decided for some strange reason to do the iddys moulds also and just pour it all in one big hit. I dont fancy being outside pouring at the mo so later on is fine : ) the wax stuff is just so boreinggggggg but it has to be perfect, the seams HAVE to be perfect.

Hope all is going well for you still, good idea to do all the moulding and pouring in one hit.
I finished the undercoating, it was ready for 1st top coat but when I got the paint it had dried in the pot, the lid had been slightly off.. so I should go and buy some more coz everything is masked, drop cloths down, all ready to go... DARN!!! I was on roll LOL LOL.

Morning Gorgeous. thats quite cool ... oh your mini things sigh just a note for general interest***little things can be attached by mini magnets to ( strong mini magnets start at about 3mm). you can embed and or encase them in clay to. lots of people do this for babies mini pacci's and headband bows / hair clips etc. no good for anyone with a pacemaker or hearing aids tho I tried to use a couple in reborns but they kept blowing out my aid channel. your lucky you touched clay Tails...... you get to keep all of your digits lol twitch twitch GRIN im pouring this morning. out in the warm sun with no wind. last night by the time id finished up it was pitch black and blowing a gale with rain that felt like dropping frozen peas. so ditched the idea of pouring via torch light HA today's the perfect day. which means tonight i can start the BJD moulds YESSSSSSSSSSS BABY man my fingers are twitching to get that resin going... just hard not to jump ahead a little just to play Bet your paintings looking fantastic today Donna. and new shoe soles to oh yessssssssssss and head armatures on the go whoa we are on a roll. now this might sound stupid but. are there any tips for punching those mini eyelets... getting them punched threw straight and not coming threw to much on one side? is it all in the appliance you use to squish them? i know this sounds like such a simple thing that one would not normally have difficulty with but....... I must be doing something wrong advice pretty please..........
