Hehe I have to make her undies- got points deducted on my first ever piece because the poor girl went commando. I didn't think they would look Saturday is crowded and though Sundays are usually not crowded you miss out on all the good supplies/ interesting finds. If you do go on Sunday be aware that the tend to pack up early I should be there on Sunday as well but only after three to pick up my doll. Looks like a few of us will have some things to show soon. Look forward to seeing the marionettes too Auckland has a lot of things on this Saturday in the city I think the traffic is going to be bad

LOL I now have a visual of the judges peering up all the skirts checking out the knickers..LOL. I'll have to blow the dust off the sewing machine for clothes for the marionettes too, especially undies.."the Man" says I'm overly generous with their proportions hahaha. Well I'm the creator this time, so they get what I didn't heehee. Thanks for the insight on the show, I'll try to get there tomorrow then, and if there's supplies to purchase..I'd better take some cash I think ;D Are you having a stress-free day now you have your doll finished?

LOL they inspect every thing ;D Have fun making the clothes- I get more curios the more you talk of them I'm not very good with the sewing machine I gave up on sewing fast and was hand cranking the sewing machine to get the lines more straight and still did a lot of unpicking Hope to see you then. I'm not sure what time of the day is busiest - I think lunch time tends to be very busy It started off stress free but I'm trying to memorize the route in case I have to drive getting nervous but I have loads to keep me busy- like my room that exploded from trying to find things in the last few weeks
Anubis, how many belly dancers have you made so far? hope its a tad warmer down there

...I'm back..I really have loads to do, but I'm having one of those days hehe. I'm going to write out the directions to follow how to get there (I REEAALLY need a GPS) and hope there is lots of parking. Glad you said lunchtime will be busy, I'll try for early arvo now..ooh exciting, I hope you do well. I'm happy to share about my marionettes, I don't have a clue what I'm doing actually, there is very little info around to help me, so it'll be trial and error. I've made the torso using sculpey ultralight as the armature and then super sculpey. They'll have moving heads (like the troll). But the part I don't like is the joints which are only rings, but I'll try to cover them somehow, and I've only clayed over wooden dowel for limbs, hmmm.

I know what you mean -I'm back too Perhaps when I see the joints I will be able to help you but I'm not sure I like google maps cause you can get a satellite map and street view so you can look at intersections etc

You're right about google maps, good idea, I'll do that. I took some photos of the torso's and came to put them up, but the kid has run off with the usb lead for the camera. They have a few moonies, but at least I haven't dropped these ones (yet) and they are not real dirty like the others have been. I bought some GHS clay match paint, (super sculpey colour) so I'll be giving that a try at the end. What I'm thinking is..if I make like a band tapered on one side, I should be able to cover the rings and limit the limbs from swivelling around, but I'll get you (anyone) to see what you think when I attach the limbs to the body later on.

I am quite curios about the clay matching paints Its sounds to me like you know what you are doing I have never made a marionette before Now I have to go clean some more

;D ;D BIG HI TO YOU ALL.... I did get to the show, but not until 2pm, I thought it was fantastic, first one and all, and I bought a couple of bits. I was hoping I wasn't too late to run into you two, hoping you might recognise me BUT... the very BEST part was seeing fantails most gorgeous entry in the front AS THE WINNER, yay.. I was so very happy for you fantail, you totally deserved it. that REALLY made my day. Blue I thought your girl was absolutely gorgeous, and your hubby did a brilliant job with the horse. It was wonderful to see your work. I'm so glad I went along, sorry I didn't get to meet you, maybe at the next one. Congratulations to you both, and fantail 'YOU ROCK'..

Hi Donna, awe thanks- if you could but only see the things that were wrong the moonies that bubbled, her messy hair, wigging issues, the cloak that sat oddly not to mention that the fishing line keeping her on the chair loosened and she ended up leaning very far forward.
I'm blown away, the runner-up was magnificent- the clothes and paint work absolute perfection
Hehe, I nearly went up to all the blond haired ladies before we left asking if they were Donna but I didn't have the guts and wasn't sure when you would be there. I was still there a bit after two Did you have large sun glasses on top of your head? Next time we can wear a big red rose to be recognized ;D

I feel sad that I didn't get to meet you in person Donna. Yes next year. Ooh and I can't wait to see what you will enter next year. We gonna have to watch out for the Blue Duo ... commercial works kept me way to busy this year This commercial work you mentioned Blue, is it to do with the vinyl babies? I hope Storkie will be there today too. Best of Luck preparing for the markets in November Anubis I guess since you already have stock that was for the show that snowed in you don't need to rush- are they planning to have the show somewhere else?

Would love to see this cloth doll fairy at the show tails.
As for the market it will be in the Velodrome which is right beside the stadium that fell over. So we will have the track cyclists racing around while we are in the middle, should be interesting.
I have a bit that I want to do some of the concept bits I never go to so it worked out in the end.
Good to hear from you blue keep up with the good work.

Its sad you were both at the show when I was, and I never got to meet you. I was thinking you might recognise me from the photo, but I didn't think that my hair was curled then and looked shorter, when really my hair is straight and half way down my back, and I have sunnies on in the photo. I should've just stood on the stage and yelled out "BLUE".."FANTAIL". At best you would have known me, at worst everyone would have thought I was a nutter, haha. Oh well, maybe next time we could pick a time and I'll wear something distinctive (and Nooooo fantail it won't be a RED NOSE lol.) Hope you had a great time there today....

LOL, Anubis - cyclists/markets event that's compounding it hope they don't keep the customers away by riding too fast. LOL Donna - Shouldv'e just swapped cellphone numbers then we ring and find each other there or if Blue has a table again we can just meet up at her table at a set time ;D You are going to enter in the show next year, right, Donna? ;D
Awe it was nice to catch up Blue. Hope we get two new members too , maybe.

Hi Donna, awe thanks- if you could but only see the things that were wrong the moonies that bubbled, her messy hair, wigging issues, the cloak that sat oddly not to mention that the fishing line keeping her on the chair loosened and she ended up leaning very far forward. What impressed me the most about little witchy was how animated she was, and natural looking. The way she leaned over, her slightly disheveled hair and the fall of the cloak looked so realistic and 'not perfect'. Sooo I don't think these were mistakes at all and definitely added to her charm.

thanks so much Donna..... but if you only knew ; ) she met with great disaster in the 11th hour and had to be completely re-costumed to hide........ mishaps sniggerin oh well and if my Mr can enter his very first clay piece ever..... then so can you WINK! dont be shy gorgeous just do it !!! you dont have to be the best or the most experienced. heck even a 5 year old wee girl entered something... its really about participation rather than anything... and year after year we girls get our few little pieces into the comps it helps the art to grow.. helps people learn about the clay and freedom of creativity with it. besides your pieces are already fantastic so give it a go ok New news also ***attached is a photo of my little grandbaby lily yoonah she is now a month old already.... xR Attachments:

What a beautiful wee soul she is. She's a living angel. Okay you're right about the competitions, and yes I do admire your Man for entering and a great effort too. I saw the 5yr olds entry. Shouldn't place limitations on myself and I have a year to get it happening, so no excuses . And you're right too about getting the sculpting and polyclay out there, I was up on the stage informing everyone around me how you two had made your pieces completely from the armature up, no moulds, all by hand etc etc I wanted them to appreciate every little detail LOL LOL Number 1 fan here.
