Thank you for the tips blue- I really appreciate it I can't keep the translucent clay white either after several bakes - why I'm using white for now

Yes thank you very much, very helpful indeed. Lindi's tutorial is on here but you need a password to access it now. I think I'm all tutored up now, just gotta find a moment (now I know how Bll feels) all sitting on the dining room table waiting..waiting. Great idea using blue in the white too, and lifting the lid to stop gloss spill, I was wiping Trolls eyes for ages. I printed out the iris sheet... but I think I'd rather paint my own. I'll have to look for a good magnifying/light thingy, my eyes are getting OLD Some people are using angelina film for iris's now I've noticed, has anyone tried that?

stores.ebay.com/Rhinestones-USA/Nailheads-hot-fix-by-Sizes-/_i.html?_fsub=1211868&_sid=60071901&_trksid=p4634.c0.m322these are the cheapest in the universe for flat nail heads. you can get these sized from 1.5 mm to 20 mm the larger ones might be good for anubis mostly the 6-9 inch ladies i use 2.5 mm and 3mm you need the FLAT nailheads. they are actually for *hotfix* rhinestones for clothing etc but they work fine.and have a little ridge that you just push into the clay. the colours are all to bright but fun if you like you can at least paint over them. the silver seams to work best. there is a do-nut shape id like to try also but havent gotten around to that yet. it just might make the pupil stand in and stand out i dunno. worth an experiment at some stage. ive been using that lizas uv gel stuff and end up with cryign eyes if i put to much on at once. seams to work best in thin coats and or hung upside down to make the lens dome. but yer the slit under the lid helps. it is hard to paint these when less is so much more.......... you have to ride the tip of a very fine*Magic brush or use a pin for the iris etc. i actually just push them lightly into a piece of waste clay and paint them up.... let dry then push into the proper eyeball clay. Im actually happy to send you both a pair of these to have a play with to see if you like them first before you buy just send me your addys and ill pop an envelope in the post. no probs. have a wonderful day ahead ladies. ive got a date with a dentist. oh joy................... take care and have a wonderful weekend and will catch you next week.

Groan.............The dentist Is the Devil !!! white fillings today........dear lord. but now that ive started my no smoking program its sort of a working reward to get my teeth fixed up. two more weeks of treatment with luck it shall all be done. no antithetic so i can only handle short doses. yikes...
anyhow tho. will post off your nailheads in the next few days.
i do use pearlex and genesis only as every time ive used acrylics they end up burning after a few bakes. just dont curse me when you see the size of them LMAO
i want to state again i am in no way an expert on this. and im sure youll come up with better tips and tricks along the way ; ) its just another way of doin it so to speak.
off to torture a mini baby head. urg. back latters x

;D Hi all... Oh you're good Blue, I'm very overdue for a trip to the dentist, but it's definitely on the 'very soon' list. Congrats to you for becoming a non-smoker, seriously very proud of you, not an easy feat, I know because I've smoked for 38yrs. I gave up for 2yrs...but started again , so you really need to not have 'just this one', EVER. Power to you..I wish I was as strong as you... Thank you for your kindness, I would love to try the nails. I'll PM you my address hopefully I can do something in return. I did manage to roll 12 balls this morning before going out. Mixed some blue pearl into white (only blue I had) but it looks a good colour. Will slice a lens off and bake...then I can play with different iris effects tomorrow ;D Oh yeah, I don't have any genesis paints OR pearlex, I have good quality artist acrylics and some metallic powders so they'll have to do this time. I will try a couple with angelina film too and let you know how it goes. ;D

;D Hiya everyone, hope all is well with you. Not much to report on my eye mission, only that I painted them in different ways..and wasn't impressed with any of them, Lol. I think I was trying too hard to put too much detail into them, so I sanded them all off and I'm going to have another go. I can see why people use the iris sheets, fiddly to paint.

Morning Lufflies thanks for the addys ill get your bits and pieces into the zippy post this afternoon. bit late and slack this week just half a mil projects happening. child still on holidays, more dentists today and a wedding this weekend oh geeeeeeeeeeeees. plus plus plussssss as for the smoking program welllllllllllllllllllllll. Im still in the cutting down period. week 7 and down to averaging 1-3 a day now. rar. its tuff.......but... i just gotta do it. some days it all goes out the window to Hades....... but 95% of the time its ok now. i just have to keep at the 1-3 for two more weeks then down to one a day upto week 12 then ill be ok to cut them out all together. i think ill be ready to before the 12 weeks tho. i hope. so the program is about cutting down over 12 weeks. the Mr is using gum and patches and im just using my stubborn evilness ; ) so once im down to 0 i will then have three months of 0 smoking before i can call myself a non smoker. that is still a tuff period i think its a twisted mind game really...... but thank you for your support lufflies... its just not easy i tell ya. Tails........i need one of vix's penguin's ....HA anyhow enough craziness..................breath that air............gasp! anyhow. have almost finished up my wee 10 inch baby head then onto its limbs i had to redesign them as once they go to moulding at the small size its harder to push the materials into the moulds ( wee fingers etc) .....the last limbs were all bent legs and such and its easier to mould straighter limbs in the tinys. rarrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and im almost finished my 20 inch child face also..........yer baby. then bake then sand RAR. and have my armature for the 15 inch baby waiting waiting waitingggggggggggg i might do two at the same time like usual lmfao two heads for one limb set. easy as.... sniggerrrrrrrrrrr anyhow lufflies..........have a terrific day and shall visit the postie today. sorry for being so slack. ill be back

I need to finish another story for my course so I can get on to the next one. As for the smoking program - you go girl ;D That is a lot of babies your sculpting , you're a machine I haven't even started one I'm still looking for faces that I want to sculpt Have fun

its not really a lot of sculpting when ya doin it full time. and every other spare second.... and nights... and time offs and.....and.....groan. the only prob is a quality V quantity issue and speed of work. FACEPALM !!! i did have a problem sculpting this weee mini head cause id just spent to much time on it and lost the ability to *see it its turned into a baby of 1000 faces but im just about done with it now its sort of like....... i could have sculpted ten other faces in the time its taken RARRRR but am still lacking the final look i was after......... will just have to work on it with the next face. but the bigger ones first...... BTW tails Storky says a big thank you and a hugg to you for the show and the wee bunny bunny it was sooooooooooooo adorable you totally rock with these minis I want to create a small wall hanging window box with a teddybears picnic for mine now... but then again a mini bear house in a frame for the wall or..........or..........or............... groan it is truly endless hahaha back in my day the dentists were called *the murder house* and i wonder why dentists freak me out....my dentist is the devil but he is ok really its just me thats the dental retentive freak ; ) i keep telling myself this is my reward.........somehow the enthusiasm is failing me ; ) anyhowz a guess a bit of a clay tidy up today and wrap up these two clay projects. bite the bullet and just bakem dentists, visiters and that will be the day ; ) oh and post shop dear lord......... but do hope you have a wonderful day ladies xR

That little face will be worth all the work, good things take time and all... I don't blame you I don't like going there- at school it was suggested I become a dentist but I couldn't get over the idea of inflicting pain. You're not a freak I think there are more people out there who are afraid of going and just don't admit it out loud. I had my wisdom teeth removed a couple of years ago after many years of not going and I'm not in a rush to go again. Thank you Blue and it's a pleasure Storkie they are just quick little things to make- well they go faster then anything else I make Wait a couple of year and you might have a few more bitty bears for your collection and then you can decide. Hope you have great success with the baking

;D Hi to everyone... Hope everything went okay at the Dentist today Blue, and with the quit smoking program So much better to cut it down than go cold-turkey. My BIL went to a hypnotist and it worked for him, but whatever way works is good. Wow you're an inspiration..the work you get through. All the best with it. No hurry for the tacks if you're busy Fantail all the best with your writing too. I read one of the earlier posts saying you were interested in writing children's book and illustrating them. Is that still your goal? .... I'm not mentioning anything about eye-painting... I'm very keen to get back to the marionettes... when I have had a chance to work on them things have gone quickly and easily. I'm up to putting eyes in so I can sculpt the faces now

It's not a full time goal just something I'd like to do one day - right now sculpting is my passion though I still use drawing when I make something major
Thats why I decided to use printouts but I'm not fully satisfied with them either sometimes its good to take a break and go back to it later Have fun with the marionette faces ;D

Hi... Blue, hot salty water gargled is good for fast healing and pain relief. The Dentist's at the top of Don Buck Rd, next to the local cop station, are very good and reasonably priced. Hope you feel better soon Did you know about herbal cigarettes? Mostly ginseng and clover leaf etc. They are a healthier alternative when the urge gets too strong, have a slight 'kick' and they help to clear your lungs. I have some, but they do smell like burning rubbish, and taste a bit like it too Thank you for posting the nail heads, I'll definitely use them. Funnily my eldest was having a go at painting eyes with me and said I should try a metal disc and that air brushing might be a good effect on them. I told him you were sending me some he has a small airbrush so maybe I could try that. I had a small paper punch that punched a series of small holes, would have been perfect for the iris sheets and angelina film. It's kicked around for YEARS and now I want it I can't find it... Fantail I'm going to sculpt that thieving little goblin one day soon. Youngest had his 15th on Monday He's in Wellsford until the weekend, no excuses for not getting onto my sculpts now. Take care all

I had one until my fab hubby used it now I dont have one............ one day I will get another and then a gun cabinet and have it looked away so he cant touch it.
Go you with the stop smoking Im trying at the moment I cant do the patches the gum is blaaaaaa and I hate taking pills. So if I leave the house I dont take smokes, my cave is smoke free. I can go uptown for 4 hours have a coffee talk with friends and not want one, get home and its a different story. Next step is to change habits at home........

hey youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu yes we do all need a gun cabinet for our precious things like scalpels, airbrushes, air compresses, sculpting tools, glue, wire, knives, and a great number of other things that manage to make way out of the studio and into boys fixit hands........yee gods they are sooooooooo lucky we dont mummify them all in clay and post them and their tv remotes to the Bermuda triangle. MALES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! but my dearest anubis they do have the cheapie single action with a 30ml glass bottle airbrush for $2 and postage of $5 on ebay. seriously ..........and they are actually fine for hobby stuff they do have a .08 needle so its a nice wispy mist and you can play it a little and take that down somewhat ... just a matter of distance between gun and fabric and youd get those wispy pretty eyeliner goblin looks sweet as. and if you dont have a compresser you can actually run them from an aircan if you just want to do the odd thang. you can get .02 dule guns for $2 on ebay but with postage of $15... they have a small 5 ml upright pottle and duel for air and paint. easy as to use. and good for you with the smokin to gorgeous ........associated habbits .eg coffee and ciggie............. hopin in the car and ciggie.etc tricky but way to go you. just one small step ... one achievement at a time a its not easy but... even cutting down a little to start is fantastic.... youve done terrific tho by the sounds. YOU TOTALLY ROCK. !!! its just so darn hard anyone thats achieved it has my total admiration. in my 7th week im down to less than 5 a day and i already notice my sence of smell and taste and how much more air im getting into me and im still smokin. groan. good god who knows what ill be like at 0 i'll be bionic yaaaaaaaaaaa just a random........... ........... the warehouse has straight leg and skinny jeans for $20 on sale............black and dark blues.......... ok im off to play.......... xR

;D He sculpts on a whole different scale than we do, but I thought you might be interested in some of his other work At the unveiling of the remodelled dragon head (he didn't paint it) he did for the childrens park Auckland zoo. When the family were over they had a turn Lol. My Niece and 2 nephews and my two 2nd left and far right. His work is commercial so on a LARGE scale mostly, he has more of his work on Bootlegs facebook page, and other work on their webpage. www.facebook.com/photos.php?id=144056415614521 ;D ;D
